The Slowest Chicken In Ipoh....

JUST NOW after church service around 10pm, 4 of us went for dinner cum supper...(dinsup, for short).... went to this Kam Hor (Golden River) for the smooth koayteow noodles, taugeh (bean sprouts) and pak cham kai (steamed chicken).

This shop is situated in Ipoh Garden just opposite Woolley Gourment Centre. I have blogged about this Kam Hor shop earlier on in one of my blogs, describing how patient one can be while waiting to be served.

For too hungry starved people, please do not go there, you will get steamed up...for patient and semi hungry humans, then it is worthwhile waiting for the chicken to 'come' and be 'laid' on the table... haha....

first comes the tau geh...crunchy and nice.. worth waiting one...

then followed by the koay teow noodles...

finally...phew... the steamed chicken....not enough for 4 people, but dont care la.. dont want to wait anymore... see the pooorr taugeh behind?? all walloped within seconds la...

FIRE! FIRE! FIREMEN.....

FIRE ALARM shrilled through the building around 11am that particular morning...everyone... almost everyone had to walk down the stairs, no rush, no panic, instead very cool and steady one...... no lifts were allowed to be used...taking our handbags and all, we walked to the compound to watch the firemen at work....

Taking my faithful gadget with me, I managed to click these 'scenes'...

actually the crowd was very much bigger...

fireman in action...trying to open the window ( i think)

water started to spurt out... to dont-know-where

still splashing at the windows.. i guess

another water splashing .....

the superiors and some staff here waiting for 'victims'

oh....what is this??? aiyah... only a fire drill exercise la... ha ha .. sure no 'excitement' ma..!!

Living Through the Loss of Someone We Love...

FEELING sentimental today... something came to my mind and I want to share this here...

FEW months ago, one of my ex-colleague's husband passed away late at night due to a heart attack...he was in his early 50s and my colleague is only in her early 40s...they have 2 kids, both in their early teens..

After few weeks of his demise, I called her up to talk to her and invited her to come out for a drink. She sounded happy to hear from me, knowing now, we are both more or less in the same boat...

Both of us had a pour-it-out talk together...she asked me numerous questions and vice versa... and there was one part that I remember her telling me..that is... She felt bad each time she reminded her kids that their father is not around anymore, she wanted them to feel the loss as much as she does....

When I heard that, I felt sad too, for her and for her kids..... I feel eventhough the father is not around anymore, we as mothers, should keep the family together and allow our kids to grow up as happily as we can, just like any other normal families do...i know the kids grieve too but we as adults have to help them to overcome that grief and not to deprive them of our love, with or without their fathers around....

So I told her what I think....we are adults, we grieve for our loss...but on the other side, we must live and let live too...especially with kids around us, we have a duty ... we help them them to grow up enjoying and going through their lives as happy and normal like anyone else.... the memories our husbands/their fathers will always be embedded in our hearts forever....

This verse in the Bible stays true to me since 1997...

Romans 8:28 All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose

ON LEAVE TO LUMUT

THE last time I went to Lumut was about a year ago...when we reached town, there were some changes, for eg this pedestrian walk, fully sheltered till the Lumut jetty where the ferries are embarked to ferry those who want to go to Pangkor island...

at the shopping bazaar opposite the jetty

the jetty terminal

AFTER an hour or two, it was around noon then...we went to this Kampong Koh for some food and the one we went was called Yue Loi Heong, something like that...no air con but its quite breezy due to the coconut trees and big giant fans there....

this is a must... 2 coconuts each will be enough ..haha..

the spoon to scrap the flesh of the kokonut

fried mee is a must too..

stirred-fried kangkong with sambal belacan

fried sotong, a bit spicy and sourish..

fried egg with oyster (oor jian)

fried meehoon cos the mee was walloped within minutes..

this is the best ... a must too... steamed crabs...
the bill came to RM69.00..... reasonable.....courtesy by my sister, of course.. he he ....

AMERICAN IDOL..COOK COOKS ARCHIE...

ACtually, I was on the way back from Lumut around 2pm...thought of watching the show tonite on RTM first...dint want to know the results till tomorrow but never had that patience to wait... so reaching for my hp, I called my buddy....when she answered, the first thing she told me was....BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.... huh???

THEN my heart sank...oh no....for a few minutes,I was devastated ...(really one..no bluff bluff) but after that, have to accept it...poor me... always giving wrong guesses....

Ok, now is my turn to watch American Idol on TV8...let me judge for myself, siapa lagi hebat... but I feel its not who is better... its more on being sentimental and emotional that counts....u know what I mean??? .... i talk non-sense tonite... still cannot get over the "devastation"....

IT would be so awesome if David A wins... by the way...why am i so so so emotionally affected?? haha...perhaps his voice has bowl me over, or maybe his kwai goody looks, his humility, his cuteness, his innocence look.....oh, dont care la..as long as he wins, i m happy...and its good to be stay happy especially nowadays life is so unpredictable ....

TAIWAN MEE NOODLE HOUSE IN PJ

WENT to Sg. Buluh last weekend for a 2 nites stay, intended to shop till drop but it didnt materialise, thank goodness....instead more on window shopping and of course 'makan-ing' here and there...

Saturday morning breakfast, we were taken to this coffeeshop in SS2, if i m not mistaken...hehe.. i didnt jot down any notes, just download them into my hard disk head... so hopefully, my memory ram is still running good...

this big menu was hung on the wall...

started off with this appetiser while waiting for the main dish to arrive....very nice crispy brown rice crackers, not so sweet, good to bite and hear the crunchy sound...

accompanied with this crispy roasted pork bought from the opposite market...

this bowl is for myself, clear soup...but actually the beef soup is famous there...those who like spicy hot soup with beef, u wont regret ordering that... for me, i cannot 'tahan' too spicy soup...

the mee soup is accompanied by this fried pork chop...hehe....i couldnt finish this actually, passed it over to my nephew who walloped 2 bowls of the taiwan mee....

East Ocean Restaurant in IPOH

FEW days have lapsed since I last blogged...lots of activities going on...very busy weekend..going here and there ... wish a day has more than 24 hours....

My family went to this East Ocean in Menglembu last Friday, supposedly to be a belated Mother Day's dinner, didnt want to join in the crowd during the actual day so we planned to take our mum out only after the so-commercialised Mother's Day....

We had a nice room all to ourselves where we enjoyed the food at our own pace and pleasure.. it was a 8 course dinner but there are only 7 shown here cos the camera lady here forgot to take the Cod Fish Dish.... when I saw the steamed and fried cod fish, my camera was just left aside...

No. 1 dish - lang poon...meaning ?? not sure of meaning but this dish has a few varieties of yummy food..

Shark fin with crab meat...one bowl to a person so dont have to fight for it...

Steamed chicken to be taken with shredded ginger...

Prawns cooked with oatmeal and nuts, if I m not mistaken...nicely coated with honey, I think.
.

Mixed vegetables with macadanian nuts...

Kon Loe mee (stew dried noodles) with shredded meat on top...

the almost empty dishes after a few minutes...

to 'cuci mulut' this pudding was served...best dessert i ever tasted.....

the orange colour is the jackfruit embedded inside the pudding

and this is my beautiful mum with her beloved daughters...oooh...sorry, and one son...
