Last Sunday while cleaning up the house here and there, I went to the store room to get a hammer... When I opened the door to the store room, I was horrified to see two lines of "aliens" on my wall... Screamed for my sons and to our shock and horror, we found out that the whole store room was infested with TERMITES!! awwwwww... so sad!
It was already Chinese New Year eve...and since the "termites busters" have closed shops... we have no choice but to handle this "extermination" ourselves! If I have a choice and opportunity, I would shift to another house but it is not easy to get a decent first time buyer mortgages online.
Thank God for my two Tarzans and Jane ... the four of us managed to clear and threw, cleaned and sprayed and sprayed and sprayed....... phewwww...
at first I saw this line....
then after taking out all the stuff..
the wooden shelf seems to be in "great activity"
all the termites were going in and out of the wood... YUCKS!
Electrical appliances... the boxes were destroyed..
I threw away an electrical jug and a steamed iron...
(gave them to a neighbour staying behind my house)
he helped us to clear up the debris we threw away...

never keep books in big boxes for a long period of time!
They reminded me of the movie "MUMMY"
all the pages just dropped like dust!
The Hero... he was at the Front Line...

After many-many hours... lots of sweat...
lots of "Yucks" and "Gosh"
and Smelly Spray of Poison,
we call it a day....
All these were done during the
Eve of Chinese New Year...
Its not finished.. still have to follow-up with the spraying...

That looked pretty serious to me. You'd better get help from the expert asap. Check the beams, the roof and every inch of the house to find out if they have expanded their colony to other part of the house. Must act fast because these nuisance can destroy a place at summer lightning speed.
Gosh!!!..this is real serious & terrible. Act fast to get the termites expert to check every corner of the house or else everything will be destroyed by them in no time.

Aiyo...this is horrible. It is good to get an expert to help. Even so, you are so fortunate to have wonderful son who is so willing to help. To the termites, he's a Terminator. But to the dear mommy, he's a Hero :-)

Oh dear me, that looked bad and calling the pest control people can be so expensive!
But I guess it has to be done. So sorry to hear you discovered the 'aliens' on CNY eve dear.

Omigawd!!! That looked really bad!!! Ya, as Kucing said, you have to get the pest people to come and do a more thorough job...
U really Ned 2 get d pro 2 check ur house. If not ur house will b infected n need to spend a lot $ money to repair it......
We tent our house and have it professionally fumigated for termites every 7 years or so. Last time was in 2008. Good luck with yours.
Do call sentricon n get 2nd opinion. Cos their method is quite different. They kill the queen . Hmm u didn't get any noise like ant eating?
OMG, that's quite serious huh, they must have been feeding themselves contentedly there for years.. anyway, this means got "sang hey", haha~~ :)
do call the pest control folks. they will be able to plant baits that will kill the queen and the colony.
a repainting of the affected area also helps to repel them...but they may move on to another part of the house:-( so baiting via the pest control ppl is still the better option.
That's a lot of work, I hope you get rid of it permanently.

Oh my, I hope you all wore or will be wearing face mask because of the small confined area and the insect spray you will be using. That's horrible. Perhaps it was too damp or humid in your storage area and that attracted the termites? Is there anyway to set a dehumidifier in the storage area? What a way to start off your New Year. Made any parting kind of lose it's fun knowing you would have that mess to clean up. Probably by now it's all done. Good luck keeping those little pest out.
Oh my GOSH!!!! This is awful, Claire! I am so sorry. I hope you did not lose anything really valuable? I say no more cardboard boxes, buy the big plastic keepers at the store. You can see through them, and they snap closed, that is what we do. SO good that you have your boys and girl there with you and they were the best helpers!!!! Be sure and air the room out after you sprayed it, don't shut the odor up till awhile has gone by.

You don't contract a pest control specialist to do periodical spraying?, must do lah,,,,
oh dear. being that badly infested u need to get the pest control to do the damage control. they are in there deep deep u need to get rid of them.. :(
