Dinner At Yoke Fook Moon

Today is Sunday and it was just me and my girl.... minus my mum who phoned to say she had already taken. My girl was super happy, she said we could "yang toi kwok" already... wonder whether she knows the meaning of that... (a couple having a private time together) What she had meant was mother and daughter bonding time (if she is in a good mood, she can be funny)...

Both both of us were pondering over what to eat... while I drove, she gave a few suggestions and finally we ended here.... for the first time, we had Dim Sum for dinner!

it was almost 7pm when we reached...
a fully renovated Yoke Fook Moon...

char siew pau came first..

steaming hot and tasted fabulous
both of us liked it...

my porridge, not bad too.. lots of varieties inside..

groundnut dessert..

our favorite chee cheong fun

almonds prawn balls & egg tart

then lastly, my girl ordered lor mai kai
(glutinous chicken rice)
That did it!! I am feeling over-full now...
The bill came to RM21 for this sumptuous dinner..
It will be a long while before we step there once again..

  24. Yum! Wah...the porridge so smooth!!! Love it like that but dunno how they get it to be like that. Must try one day...maybe grind the rice.

  25. cleff: next time i better not eat glutinous rice in the evening.. very very indigestible! cannot say expensive or cheap.. it is like this if u go to this type of places.

graitude: cheap ah? ok lar for a restaurant.. i expected this price..

manglish: yearning or not? hahaha... so when coming back?

stp: no need to grind.. when it is cooking, all u have is to stir it.. or better still before u cook the porridge, put a dash of salt into the beras before mix it up.. this way, when it is boiling, it will become smooth..

  26. Long time didn't eat peanut tong sui, like it smooth.

  29. oh..dimsum for dinner? btw, is this where fu san is? the same street?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I heard that Yoke Fook Moon is nicer than Fu San. The renovated retaurant looked better than the previous time. Dim Sun for dinner is a new idea for me. I must remember that when I am in Ipoh again.

  31. Oh dear, Claire. You always makes me lick my mouth when u post up pics like that. I love Fah Sang Woo. Have you ever tried Fah Sang Woo in Menglembu? SInce i was born there, this place has the most nicest fah sang woo and Chee Mah Woo. It is just opposite Menglembu police station, further up. Keep left when you reach the two groundnuts. Go further up, before the traffic light, just opposite the wet market of Menglembu, is this shop inside the house compound. Curry mee is absolutely awesome. Yummy.

  32. Groundnut dessert. I like.. I always dabau from Sec. 17 in PJ at RM2.00 per plastic bowl. Yummy! Ipoh is really a food haven!!

  34. barb: yes. right..same street one..

sheoh yan: a lot of ppl complained foo san is no good liow.. so we go for smaller scales.. cheaper also i think..

cy: thanks for the directions! u know, pasir pinji also got .. famous one.. but i wanna try the menglembu one first.. hope evening got?

inspiredmum: yes, indeed it is.. but we locals are used to it now..

  41. Nice dimsum! I'd love to try out this delicacy in Ipoh but my hubs said we have to reach there early before they are sold out. That's mean we need to get up early, like in 6am?? :(

But now, you introduce me this restaurant where serves dim sum at odd hours. Great!! Err... where is it exactly?

    ReplyDelete
  42. No Claire, evening is close only in the mornings for breakfast, you can try it on Sat or Sun. And since u r there u might as well try the famous Ham Jim Paeng opposite Magnum. If u r interested, let me know and I will show u directions. Cheers. CY
