JPA Bursury Programs For SPM 9A+ Students

I couldn't log in at all to this JPA (Public Services Department) website yesterday, maybe it was "overloaded" when it was announced that those who achieved 9A+ were given some "bursary" programs.  Not understanding much about it, I tried logging in to their website here but to no avail.

Just an hour ago, I managed to... I wanted to know more about these "Bursary" that the government has offered.  I have read through a moment ago, here is the link http://www.jpa.gov.my/docs/akhbar/ka10042012.pdf.  You can have a better understanding of their offers after reading this.

Briefly here is what they are offering...(correct me if I am wrong)
For those with 9A+ and above....

1)  50 "creme" or Best Students will be chosen to study in well known/local/overseas universities.
2)  For the rest, they can further their studies either in Form 6 (STPM), Matriculation or A levels in colleges approved by the government...  etc etc....
3)  Students can check out the bursary programs from the 16 April onwards in www.moe.gov.my

More details are listed ... but since my girl is not eligible, now we have to start surveying private colleges....

  1. She has 9A+? "Matriculation or A levels in colleges approved by the government" also under scholarship programme but degree will be in the same place or a local uni. Not interested?

  3. Many prestigious private institutions offer better options and quality education for our students. Local universities are going downhill, no need to waste time going after those pig heads up there just to secure a place in lousy govt institutions.

  9. Is it because of the coming election that those bursaries suddenly come forth??? Private institutions maybe more expensive but I think much better quality. Any thoughts of twinning program? All the best to your girl.

  12. My son sat for his SPM in 2010, we went through what you are going through now and believe me it is really very frustrating. My son applied for an overseas scholarship under JPA but he was only given a local scholarship and not given the course he wants to study.(Chemical Engineering)In the end we decline the offer. I decided to ask my son to do his A Levels and try for an overseas scholarship again after he have applied to some of the top uni in UK and get an offer from them. He have applied to 4 uni in UK and all 4 uni have offered him a conditional offer but unfortunately we don't have the funds to send him to UK. We have applied to every available scholarship but sadly one by one the door is shut. At the end of the day might just have to go to UTAR, at least we tried our very best to get an overseas scholarship. In this country if we are not "kulitfication" getting very good results is not enough to get you anywhere.

  13. claire, most private colleges also offer tuition fee waival depending on the number of A*. For eg., in Sunway College, can get full fee waival in A-levels if get 9A* and partial waival for 8A+, 7A+, etc.
    All the best. Rgds, KG
