Dinner At Chin's Szechuan Restaurant In San Diego

After checking into our resort apartment, it was almost time for dinner.... and I was most excited and happy when I heard that we were going for Szechuan food instead of western food!  Phew... that is really good news to me ...not that I don't like to take burgers and stuff but because I am a rice lover... I must have rice at least once a day or once a week if it is not too much to ask... LOL...

One of my sister's friend is working in this Szechuan restaurant called Chin's and she recommended  their signature dishes under the dimly lit candle light dinner...
At Chin's restaurant
exterior area...
the interior for larger group... candlelight dinner..
All the dishes are cooked in Szechuan style...

Szechuan soup....
very appetizing....
fried dumplings...
Szechuan pork ribs...
spicy intestines... sweet sourish...
beancurd with fungus... (tau kun)
stir fried chicken...spicy too!
only this greens is not....
Szechuan style noodles? :)
BIL taught me something new here...
before we use the disposable chopsticks,
we should "scratch" the two chopsticks against one another..
something like "making a fire" with 2 sticks..
Purpose is to get rid of the "extra wood"" ...
you get what I mean?  Seriously?

  3. Came across a statement made by a food connoisseur that Malaysian food is spicier than Szechuan food. If that's true, I think we can stomach those hot hot stuff as much as we can.

  4. I used to eat Szechuan cuisine when I lived in New York City back in the 1970s, but not anymore. Too spicy! Food looks good, though.

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...
Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch here in …

Caring And Sharing At Limestone, Regal Lodge, Ipoh

IMPROMPTU GATHERING.... Nothing was planned beforehand, it was only at the last minute that we received call to have lunch at Limestone Cafe, inside Regal Lodge.  It was my first time there to have set lunch.  The menu prices were reasonable, around RM15.90 for the main dish, RM3 for a bowl of soup and RM2 for ice cream.  Other than that, coffee, tea and soft drinks are free.
We were there not so much for the food but for the ambiance... we practically had the whole cafe to ourselves during that lunch hour.  Only one or two tables were occupied and we spent more than two hours there since it was a Friday long hour lunch for my working colleagues.  After a few months absence from me, it was wonderful to catch up with my ex-colleagues again!
I was super hungry by lunch time and I felt like eating almost anything in the menu. We ended up ordering one main dish each and then sharing them with one another so that we could taste a bit of this and that.....
I felt like eating Aglio Oli…

Famous Wanton Mee At New Hoong Kee, Bandar Sri Damansara

BREAKFAST FEAST..  Best meal of the day is always my first meal because I know I am able to tuck in as much as my stomach can accept.  I eat a lot in the mornings and then slowly dwindle by the end of the day.  As the saying goes, eat like a king in the morning and like a pauper in the evenings.  This is what I normally do nowadays, not because I wanted to, but it is my own body system that tune me this way.  Though I deny I am old but the body says otherwise... LOL...

On this morning, we went to New Hoong Kee in Bandar Sri Damansara, my sibling said this is currently his favourite place.  And after trying, I know why.... the food we ordered, all turned out good and tasty, even the curry reminded me of my good old days!
Managed to catch the name otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell this story now...  My type of curry... I can go without the chicken... Just the other ingredients will do fine for me.. I like the way they cook this curry... Heard the BBQ pork is tasty too... melt in …
