The Two "Fines" In Edinburgh

It was there in Edinburgh when we were "slashed" with two "fines."  LOL... OK, sorry, I shouldn't use the word "slash"... it reminds me of Malaysian crime awareness in FB...

Back to my story telling... we got our first summon fine from the parking attendant.  My son parked right in front of the guest house and it seems the parking lot belonged to a resident.. (you can actually book a parking place, I think)  Aaron didn't know about it till he saw this fine....
If I am not mistaken, the fine was 30 GBP...
One man saw my son holding the ticket and asked him..
"Is this your rented car?"
My son nodded...
Then the man said, "Just tear it off... "
They laughed....

On the second day in Edinburgh, I couldn't bear the "discomfort" anymore.... My son took me to the hospital but unfortunately they didn't want to see me cos I was not ER case... they referred me to a private practitioner and we had to make an appointment beforehand.

To cut the story short, I consulted this doctor and I was prescribed some antibiotics and I had to get them from a pharmacy...At that moment, I really miss Malaysia... at least we do not have to make an appointment with our GP and we do not have to go to the pharmacies to get our medicine....
15 minutes consultation made my pocket very much lighter.. LOL..
anyway, I am thankful that all is fine now....

  1. They only treat 'dying' ppl urgently. As bad as our medical state here, we still get treated no matter what. LoL! Glad you are okay though so much 'lighter' now.

  2. They should have forgiven him the ticket because he did not know, was only a visitor. Here, you cannot see a doctor unless you have an appointment, then you have to go to the pharmacy to get the medecine. With no appointments, aren't here a lot of people at once and lots of waiting?

  4. No medical insurance, never ever see a doctor abroad. You will have to pay through your nose. Ya...they're very efficient in issuing summonses - for speeding also - watch out for the very slow speed limit when driving through villages/hamlets...and in NZ, cannot go below the speed limit as well. If they say 90, you have to stick to that. I guess we are so much "better off" in many ways here...

  5. aiyah, never mind lah, you are rich tai-tai.. consider you have experienced something unique in Scotland, haha.. yeah, i actually do not like the idea of pre-booked appointment with doctors.. unless it's like regular follow-up, i think when we are sick we want to see the doctor straight away, we can't pre-book our sickness also right?? :D

  8. At least you are fine! Hahah! Parking summons. Pretty common everywhere where the locals ignored them. Just could not believe that they advised your son to just tear it off! lol!

  13. I think since the rented car has the credit card number, I think in the agreement, they can still charge the credit card for any outstanding fine. So in the end, did your son pay the fine?

Well, money spent to consult a doctor to get a peace of mind is money well spent. Glad that everything is now ok for you.
