Gardens By The Bay, Singapore

This is our first time visiting Gardens By The Bay. It was completed and opened in June 2012, a park which is on reclaimed land spanning 250 acres... From what I read,  Gardens by the Bay is an integral part of a strategy by the Singapore government to transform Singapore from a "Garden City" to a "City in a Garden". The stated aim is to raise the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city.  Well, I am sure they have succeed in doing so... we can see more green scenery here....
Indeed it is tranquillizing...
Lots of greens to soothe the eyes after a hard day's work....
The park has proven extremely popular for event planners,
with demand so high that the park has to limit the number of events to three per weeks..
so it says....
Even tourists like us have to slant a bit towards the greens.....
Ok, what is the name of this flower...?   I have yet to find out....
As we walked along, I notice that there isn't any rails to "prevent" falling into the lake here...

I wonder whether Malaysia can have something like this....
We got to watch out for our "small kids"...
They might "jump" into the water here....
Well, isn't this beautiful???  They are called Supertrees...
They give the impression  of"Giant Fans way up high...
They dominate the Gardens landscape with great heights...

There is a joke I heard about these supertrees...
Remember the haze recently?
Someone joked that they should "switch on" these "Giant Fans"
and blow the haze back upwards!  :)

  4. The supertrees made the place look like something out of avatar or jurassic park movie.

I also want to know the name of the red "flower" so I googled for it and found that it is either "Mussaenda erythrophylla" or "Mussaenda 'Dona Eva'".

The red flower is not its flower. The actual flower is white. Found this info:

"All is not what it seems with a Mussaenda flower. Take a look at a ‘flower’ and what will first strike you are the large showy ‘petals’ which are in fact enlarged floral sepals. These surround the yellow, cream or white flowers. The starry true flowers are 5 petaled and have a crepe like texture."

  5. But I like the red sepal better than the flowers when I found the picture of the white flowers.

I hope to visit this garden one day. You are so lucky to get to visit it with your children but you deserve it after raising them so well.

    Have a nice Sunday!

  7. What are those colourful things under the super trees...and that Chinese building? They all stick out like a sore thumb - the glaring colours are not in harmony with the soothing surroundings and do not blend in well. Spoil everything.
