Buntong Noodles In Ipoh Town

When we are in a "non-ricey" mode, we will opt for noodles instead...my sister and I will drive around the town while thinking of the "perfect" place to soothe our appetite.  And on this particular night, both of us agreed to have our dinner here... Buntong noodles...

At first sight, there is nothing unusual with this shop... the only difference is... "Take Number".... Yes, we must take a number upon entering the shop.  The numbers are on a table and apparently both of us forgot about it till we sat down and looked around... In a way, this system is good... first come first serve basis...
Soon it was our turn... and we ordered these for our dinner...
I prefer their dried version... with a pinch of lard at the side...
Some fish balls....
Fried wanton and fried beancurd skin wrappings...
But most of all, I like their stewed Eggplant with fish paste embedded in between...
Not many people like eggplant...
My mom told me that they "blur" our eyes if we eat too much?
Is it true?  :)

The shop is called Sri Mahkota
(Buntong noodles)
73 & 75, Theatre Street,
30000 Ipoh.

  3. I've never heard that about eggplants! I didn't like veggies as a kid but I love eggplant!

Maybe my mom never mentioned it since she figured anything to make me eat veggies is a good thing.

I didn't eat veggies (full protein and carb diet - meat only) until I was in my 20's!

  8. I have always wanted to go to a noodle shop, but this place has lots more than just noodles! Do you have the shops that sell only noodles in bowls with different kinds of broth and added things? I would love to go to one! Maybe you will find one sometime and post it.
