Pillow Dumplings Along Cintra Street, Penang

From Hutton Lane, we adjourned to Cintra Street to get some "Bah Chang" (Dumplings) to take back to Ipoh. Love the Bah Chang there but I think their sizes have somehow "shrunk" compared to those days. From the price of RM2.50, they are now sold at RM3.50 each... Well, it is not surprising considering that everything has gone up by now and still going up every now and then....

Along the way, I stopped and took some pictures...
Campbell House now a boutique hotel...
Here is the Chang shop...
There are a few types of dumplings sold here...
I prefer the white glutinous rice type of dumplings with lots of beans...
They started in 2000?
Here are some of the choices...
Their steamed yam pudding is not bad too..
And their Ang Tau Sar (Red Bean Dessert) is not to be missed as well..
Back in Ipoh, I steamed this up for my dinner...
I call this Pillow Dumpling (Jum Tau Choong)
Filled with yellow beans, salted egg and meat..
Come to think of it, I still have one left inside the freezer!

  6. Seldom see this type of bak chang. Shape doesn't matter as long as it is nice. Like meat and not bean fillings.
