Ken The Food Hunter Of Penang

Not too long ago, I got to know this young guy from blogging, he is from Penang, a young and enterprising guy. Finally I got to meet up with him after several "failed attempts".. LOL... I am so glad that this trip is not so hectic as the previous ones and after catching him in Facebook yesterday morning, we arranged to meet up finally! He picked me up from the hotel around noon and from there, he took me to several places around town... so nice of him!

I told him that I yearned for a bowl of exotic laksa and he gladly took me to this place the locals eat... Oh, I didn't catch the name of the shop, all I know it is in Pulau Tikus, not the ones the tourists go to, Lorong Selamat, Air Itam, Penang Road...etc etc..
This is the one....
They have fried stuff to go with the laksa....
There!!   The Exotic Laksa!
Now seeing this, I need to "swallow" you-know-what!  hahahaa...
I prefer mine without any shrimp paste....
The first question I asked when I stepped into his car was...
"hey, you are so fair, you just came back from overseas?"
His fair skin and "pimple-less" face puts me to shame!
hahahaa..
Next he took me to buy some local goodies...
He used to buy from here, pay less and more tasty!
ahaa... Our Goodies Galore!
Next time I know how to come here already...
Shop name is Fook Loke Sau along Nordin Road...
Next we adjourned to this famous cafe called Moustache Houze!
Both of us are "Dessert Lovers"
And he recommended Tiramisu.... hmmmm.....
I think I finished most of it before he had a chance to do so...
hahahaa...
We had a good hour here chatting non-stop.....
So much to learn from him too!
Thank you, Ken for your time, taking me round and round, here and ther ....
Hope we can catch up again one day...

  3. Main reason going to Penang is meeting up with your blogger friend and not looking for your camera as claimed. Oh yes, he is a handsome young man. So special got prawn fritters to go with the laksa but I prefer to eat it with chilli sauce.

  13. ...after several "failed attempts"? Wahhhhh!!!! So hard to get to meet this VVIP kah? Ok, he's taller...and a lot slimmer than his photos elsewhere. Maybe he kept having his photos taken with pencil-thin young girls wearing 6 inch heels, so he looked fatter and shorter.

Wahhhhhh!!!! Took you on a food tour kah? So nice of him! I want also leh....

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...
Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch here in …

Caring And Sharing At Limestone, Regal Lodge, Ipoh

IMPROMPTU GATHERING.... Nothing was planned beforehand, it was only at the last minute that we received call to have lunch at Limestone Cafe, inside Regal Lodge.  It was my first time there to have set lunch.  The menu prices were reasonable, around RM15.90 for the main dish, RM3 for a bowl of soup and RM2 for ice cream.  Other than that, coffee, tea and soft drinks are free.
We were there not so much for the food but for the ambiance... we practically had the whole cafe to ourselves during that lunch hour.  Only one or two tables were occupied and we spent more than two hours there since it was a Friday long hour lunch for my working colleagues.  After a few months absence from me, it was wonderful to catch up with my ex-colleagues again!
I was super hungry by lunch time and I felt like eating almost anything in the menu. We ended up ordering one main dish each and then sharing them with one another so that we could taste a bit of this and that.....
I felt like eating Aglio Oli…

Famous Wanton Mee At New Hoong Kee, Bandar Sri Damansara

BREAKFAST FEAST..  Best meal of the day is always my first meal because I know I am able to tuck in as much as my stomach can accept.  I eat a lot in the mornings and then slowly dwindle by the end of the day.  As the saying goes, eat like a king in the morning and like a pauper in the evenings.  This is what I normally do nowadays, not because I wanted to, but it is my own body system that tune me this way.  Though I deny I am old but the body says otherwise... LOL...

On this morning, we went to New Hoong Kee in Bandar Sri Damansara, my sibling said this is currently his favourite place.  And after trying, I know why.... the food we ordered, all turned out good and tasty, even the curry reminded me of my good old days!
Managed to catch the name otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell this story now...  My type of curry... I can go without the chicken... Just the other ingredients will do fine for me.. I like the way they cook this curry... Heard the BBQ pork is tasty too... melt in …
