My Journey To Sg. Buloh For Sarawak Kolo Mee And Fish Noodles

Whenever I have plans to drive out of town, the first thing that came to my mind is the car performance.  Since I do not have much knowledge on cars maintenance, I have qualms on having my car stalled on the road or highways.  That is my only worry when it comes to driving long distance.

One day before my journey started, I sent my car for "alignment" and "balancing".... I notice my front tire has some problem... it kept turning to the left... SO I guess it is time to do some "balancing" on the tires...
Told the mechanic to shift the front tires to the back and back to the front too...
This service cost RM50... is it expensive?

The drive to KL was good... can feel the change after the service...
As usual, the opposite side of the lane was busier than my side...
It took me nearly two hours to reach Sg. Buloh...
From there on, I became a passenger and on the way to lunch,
I was told that this is the area where three workers were crashed by a slab of cement recently...
Soon we reached "Big Family" at Old Sg. Buloh Road.....
I know... I know... I have published this many times...
Each time I go down south, I must have a bowl of koay teow with Fish Fish!
Love the texture of the thick skin on the fish called "collagen?"
And if that is not enough, there is a side dish of the fish head as well.....
And this time, we ordered another bowl of noodles...
Sarawak Kolo Mee....
Not sure Sarawak kolo noodles look like this or not...
It looks like Hakka noodles too, right?
Well, the taste?
GOOD!

  2. It is always advisable to have your car checked before starting the long journey. Safety first. Fish soup kway teow really looks good. Sarawak kolo mee, presentation is more or less the same but the noodles seem different.

  7. All looks good. My car never sent for alignment, so old already...the tyre man said no need, so listen to his advice. Will just change when no more treads. Ooooo...food looks real good here! Sg Buloh? We have one here too - my girl is going to the school there coming week for the UPSR Exam supervision... In the jungle. :(

    1. Can sense when car is moving one side on a straight road otherwise it will "eat" your tire treads if you don't align it back... hahaha... macam pro, hor.. but not so.. what I hear, I repeat back.. hahaha...

    2. That's what they say. You don't pump regularly, it will also eat into your tyres. Over-pump also. The wearing out patterns would be different. Just let go of the wheel, the car should go straight...then no problem with alignment. I can't remember what my tyre man said - the reason why I need not bother sending my old car for tyre alignment. Old man, memory not good anymore.

    3. As long as you are comfortable with the steering wheel, then you are fine... I sense discomfort when driving because my left hand need to steer back the wheel to the center.. that is the reason why I sent... and when the car is parked, I was told that the tyres must be straight and not sengat otherwise it might "hurt" the alignment also... true or not, not sure..

    4. Yup, always make sure your tyres are straight when parked. You drive long distance to Penang or to KL, best to always get your car checked...make sure it is in tip top shape. I often see cars breaking down halfway en route to my girl's jungle school or back, even some new ones. Many with punctured tyres too, dunno why. I wouldn't want to take the risk on these out-of-town trips.

    5. Yes, I don't want to get punctured tyres too but these things happen especially that there are nails on the roads... other than this, check the water and the engine oil at the petrol station.. I will do that most times...

  11. To shift the front tires to the back and back to the front too for RM50...is not expensive but extremely super expensive. But to do the balancing and alignment plus shifting the tires is reasonable.

    1. Phew.... I thought really super expensive... yes, do the balancing act too.. hahaha...

  12. When your car steering pulls to the left or right it could be due to few causes, under inflated front left/right tire pressure, damaged steering tie rod, brake drag and most common of all needs an alignment. When the steering wheel wobbles after you hit 80kph on the speedometer then your tires need balancing.

    1. Hey Bananaz, Thank You for these important info... ! So far after alignment, the steering wheel is straight... will continue to monitor it every now and then.. sure know one when driving.. the discomfort is there when the steering wheel runs out of "tune"...

  14. I just did the same end of august and this is the breakdown - alignment RM20, wheel balancing for 2 wheels = 2x RM5 = RM10. Total is RM30 inclusive of switching the front 2 tyres to the back and vice versa.

Usually if anything happens to the car we call AAM. Membership fees for AAM is not that expensive.

I think this week I will go sungai buluh to eat this fish kt. Read too many times in your blog so must try. :)

    1. Mun, then I am overcharged! hahhaa.. Very cheap service at your place... but why balance two wheels only? Normally they just balance the front two? The back tires are not affected, right? :)
Ok, try the noodles and tell me what you think.. eat with the cilipadi.. very shiok one!! hahaha..

    2. The other shops around here charge RM25 for alignment, this shop that I went to charged cheaper. Perhaps your shop balanced all 4 wheels for you so that's why more expensive 4x5 = 20 instead of my RM10. I also don't know why but the shop says front wheel drive so only need to balance the two front wheels. Last time all four wheels were balanced when the tyres were first bought and fixed onto the car.

I takut pedas so will not eat with cilipadi. Just eat like that is nice already for me.

    3. Ok, now I know the market price... more or less like this... :) '
