Xiang Palace In SOHO IPOH

On that particular day, both of us did not any plans on what and where to take our lunch... we have ran out of ideas and choices and we just drove around town to get some "food inspiration" ... hahaha...  And good thing we manage to get to this place...

SOHO Ipoh (Small Office, Home Office) is the new place in town, located at the intersection Jalan Sultan Idris Shah (Brewster Road), corner of The Sultan Yussuf Fountain roundabout which also walking distance to Ipoh Parade Shopping Mall where one of the over-rated shops is located.

This SOHO is an enclosed area, as the shops are not fully occupied yet, the parking in this area is free for now.   But we did not go into that over-rated shop, we rather eat somewhere else.  My girl has sharp eyes, she saw one shop called Xiang Palace, just newly opened while I was looking for parking around the vicinity.
My girl was fascinated with something here...
They have see through glass where we can see the "food-in-making"...
We ordered a big bowl of noodles with dumplings...
There were six big ones inside.....
These are not wanton noodles... looks like Hakka noodles to me....
Well, it is certainly enough for her!
Taste?  She finished it all...  :)
As for me, I wanted to try some Black Sesame dumpling........
And the next thing I know, I was served only ONE dumpling!
When I told the waiter why just one... he answered that I wrote "1" on the order chit....
Oh, I thought when I wrote "1"...  it would come in one small basket???
I thought I would be served like this... 3 in the basket, not 1....
hahahaaa..
Anyway, my girl and I had a good laugh over it...
Cos they gave us another basket with 3 inside... so altogether we had 4 of these.....
And the best thing is.... they gave another 10% discount on the total bill...
Our bill only came to RM13 something with drinks...
Not too bad.. worth trying again...

  2. So funny to serve you 1 bao in the whole empty basket. Normally 1 means 1 basket, you are right. So how did they charge you for the baos, not per basket but per number of baos? The 10% discount is given to all customers or just to you both?

  5. Oh? So that's the meaning behind the name. I thought it was following the name of the red-light district in London. :D Those buns look like the lau sar pao I had yesterday morning...minus the black dot. Love the look of the dumplings - gorgeous.

  14. This is also a popular trend here in KL now to show the kitchen scene. Makes the diners more excited and wait longer knowing that the chefs are working hard. This open concept makes the ambiance more spacious too. Nice place!
