CHINESE NEW YEAR REUNION DINNER 2015

Chinese New Year Eve is today... Wednesday 18.2.2015.

Started the day by waking up as early as 9am and out from the house by 11.30 to have the first meal of the day in Hollywood, Canning Garden... Everything was sold out by then except for the Indian curry rice.  No mind... good to have rice that would probably last throughout the day till the Reunion CNY dinner at 6pm...

As usual, I am on "contract" to cook one dish only...
So I normally will try to make the "BEST" out of it...
Garlics, mushrooms, fish stomach, dried oysters and one tin of abalone...
Missing is the sea cucumbers...
Saving them for a special day!
Turned out something like this....
And the rest of the dishes were swooped up by my Sister, the Cook..
My Mom's replacement from this year onwards...
Her own version of prawn pancakes...
My mom used to make them round...
Both are equally good-licious!
Steamed Woo Soe Kai...  (Bearded Chicken!)
Joo Hoo Char... eaten with lettuce as wrappers....
Not to be missed during festivals like CNY...
Lotus soup...boiled for many hours...
Just four dishes plus one soup....
And more than enough to feed seven of us!
After grace, I startled everyone for a second....
"Mother! Sik Farn lo!!"
Still missing her presence...
Spent half an hour sitting in the living hall...
Playing with the Photoapps...
And finally settled for this....
 GONG XI GONG XI....
GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS TO ALL!!

  1. You are so pretty in your yellow top, framed by the red lanterns. Your cooking always looks just as good as the restaurants! You will always miss your mom, as I do mine. Your collage is excellent, full of happy fun.
