Reanaclaire Remembers *Far Kau*

IT WAS A NO FRILLS HOMECOOKED MEAL with my kids yesterday... (presentation is not always there) hahahaa...

It was as early as 7am that I woke up and ran an errand for a friend and since it was super early, I went marketing to get some stuff for dinner... I suddenly remember that I have not used any of my "far kau" (fish maw) which I bought from US, in fact I totally forgotten about them until I rummaged my fridge!  tsk.. tsk... And...  since there were two extra "eaters" in the house yesterday, it was the perfect time to whoop up the special soup before they go off again.....
Our early dinner at 4.30pm...

Steamed eggs with minced meat....
Blanched broccoli as requested by my girl....
Nyonya Assam Fish...
This time I bought one whole fish *Ikan Senangin*
And our "Far Kau" chicken soup with red dates, wolfberries and some slices of ginseng..
My girl was asking what is "Far Kau"...
Then I told her about the HK series "Line Walker" ...
Immediately she recalled and ended up drinking and eating all of it....
*One lesson learnt... I must not put too many pieces.. *

Very nice home-cooked dinner, Claire. Love all the dishes you cooked.

  5. Mum's homecooked food is always the best even without nice presentation. Fish maw soup, my favourite. Best is all family members can get to sit down & have a nice dinner.

  9. I like to eat blanched broccoli too. Why not put too much? Did the soup turn out to be very thick? I did not know that there are fish maws made in USA. Thought most of the fish maws are from China.
