My Travels For The Year

December  is coming to an end in a matter of days.  I never thought this year 2015 would be my most active year, in terms of traveling.  Ever since I retired in February this year, I have been "on the move"... on the roads, on the planes.  In March, it was an unplanned trip to Adelaide with my daughter and siblings, we spent a week there moving about on our own, it was a free and easy trip.  Come May, I flew to Sacramento via San Francisco for a two months holiday.  This was also a relaxing trip, spending some days at the ranch and a couple of weeks going out of town.  And my third overseas trip was in October, my friend and I went to Aberdeen, Scotland for ten days and another ten days to four places in Europe.  That was quite an adventure, I would say.....

Three oversea trips in a year, it was kind of unbelievable for me, I never expect to travel so much in a matter of months in a year.  Each time I came home, my friends would "bombard" me with questions, "hey, you are really loaded... you really spent a lot.... how much did you spend this time? Where would you go next?" etc... etc... Well, what I could say is I am really thankful to my God for blessing me with these trips and provisions.  As for finances, I am also thankful that I did not really spend a lot for these three trips.  Being an avid traveler on an off, I have learn how to budget myself.  I spend within my limits and wisely.

During the vacation I spent in US, my family and I go places not using our own car but a rented one.  The rates compared to using own car and a rented one, it is more worth getting a reliable car from the car renting companies.  All we need to do is to call them up in advance, tell them what car we need, for how many people and the duration of our trip.  Booking in advance has an advantage, the rates will be lower than last minute planning.  The cars which they provide are mostly new, comfortable and prestigious.  For our trips to Las Vegas to San Diego, we drove a very nice and new Peugeot, black and classy and we only paid a very affordable rate for our two weeks vacation.  As for the Aberdeen trip, my son rented a car to tour round Scotland, with a GPS and car reliability, we had no problem driving around few hours per day.  And when our trip came to an end, we just had to drive it to the airport, no hassles, no trouble.  This is a piece of advice for those who love traveling free and easy trips, travel and spend within our limits, after all, It's My Trip!
