Cong Yin Meat Noodles At Ipoh Garden South

MOST OF THE MORNINGS, my friends and I went food-seeking... The first meal of the day is an important meal, so they say.... and each morning I am always looking forward to having my breakfast with them.  On this particular morning, it is no different, only difference is that one of us could not make it for breakfast and that left two of us only.  Well, no matter... we still need to nurse our tummy to start off the day.... hahahaha....

Well, what to eat and where shall we go, that is always the question on our mind.... Ipoh is very small, we seem to be taking a repetition of food now and then....

Finally after some moments, we decided to go to Cong Yin along Lebuh Raya Taman Ipoh, Ipoh Garden South.... Cong Yin literally means "Scholar" ... and I wonder why the owner has this name in mind when he opened this shop .... hmmmm..... Cong Yin is a pork noodles shop and it draws crowds especially on every weekend....

We made our orders upon entering the shop....
They have Bah Chang hanging in front of the stall....
But we ordered these as our "side-kick" instead....
Crispy Fried Dumpling....
Before the food was served, we had our dessert drink....
I like this warm water chestnut with fresh corns....
It cost around RM3 a bowl.....
And after a few minutes, my serving arrived...
With pork noodles, I always opt for Loe Shu Fun...
I am not sure how much it cost now...
For a breakfast meal like this, it is normally around RM10 per person anytime!
So that explains why I do not take lunch on most days!!
hahahahaaa....

  6. The full name of this pork noodles is 状元及第 noodles (Cong Yin Cup Dai), literally translated as "May you be the first rank at the examination for the Hanlin Academy". The famous Ming Dynasty scholar 'Loon Mun Chooi' who was born poor studied very hard in order to pass with distinction in the imperial examination. He grew vegetables and sold them around the neighbourhood to earn a living. One of his neighbours, a congee seller, frequently bought vegetables from the scholar. Whenever the scholar delivered the vegetables to him, he would treat him with a bowl of porridge laden with pork innards. Despite passing the imperial exam with the highest distinction, the scholar did not forget the kindness of his neighbour. He returned to the village for the tasty porridge. 'Cong Yin Cup Dai' was the name he gave the porridge.
