Auntie Reanaclaire Cooks In Johor

IT IS NOT ALL ON OUTSIDE FOOD and no homecooked food in the house... That is not my intention of going to Johore... *cough cough* ... No doubt the kitchen is small and "mini-sized", I cannot take that as an excuse.  By hook or by crook, somehow or anyhow, I managed to squeeze in a few dinners during my duration of my stay... not only for my kids, dinners for my in-laws as well.  Kitchen utensil are also quite limited but cooking for six or seven is still within my limits and "management"... hahahahaa...

Now I understand why those aunties take lots of food stuff whenever they go and visit their children staying outstation.... My own mother used to do that too, she bought fresh chickens from the market in Ipoh and took these chicks all the way to KL those days.  Look no further now, I am also doing the same thing, minus the fresh chickens , I brought along dry foodstuff instead, ingredients, mushrooms, red dates, Chinese sausages...and a bit of this and that.... *Yes, aunties will only understand*
Yes, I brought along my Sambar powder and whisked up a wok of greens...
A vegetarian dish!
My kids' favourite... from young till now....
Our all time favourite and simple dish....
Oh... one dish I dare not enlarged...
See if anyone can noticed or not...
hehehehee...
As long as he gives the Thumbs Up, it is all that counts...
hahahahaa...
On another occasion, we prepared a pot of "Poon Choy"...
This pot of goodness was sponsored and bought from Singapore...
As usual no presentation or garnishing of any kind.....
Dinner for Six maximum...
The seventh person either have to eat in advance or to eat standing up!
hahahahaa...

  6. Very nice meals even with limited resources.

I remember my aunt brought rice, fish and veggies from Singapore over to Kuching so she could cook porridge for her grandson whenever they came over for holidag.

  9. I look at the photo very closely and I could just make out those two pieces of deep fried fish. Correct?

Very tasty homecooked meal. Just buy a plastic chair and the 7th person can sit on it and squeeze in between the 6 of you to enjoy a close knitted warm meal together! :)

  11. Ha ha...I think the one you dare not enlarge is the fried fish? No worries, it happens to most of us, me included, ha ha! As long as your kids give you the thumbs up, that's the most important thing. You are doing a great job cooking for 6 people! True!!!

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...
Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch here in …

Caring And Sharing At Limestone, Regal Lodge, Ipoh

IMPROMPTU GATHERING.... Nothing was planned beforehand, it was only at the last minute that we received call to have lunch at Limestone Cafe, inside Regal Lodge.  It was my first time there to have set lunch.  The menu prices were reasonable, around RM15.90 for the main dish, RM3 for a bowl of soup and RM2 for ice cream.  Other than that, coffee, tea and soft drinks are free.
We were there not so much for the food but for the ambiance... we practically had the whole cafe to ourselves during that lunch hour.  Only one or two tables were occupied and we spent more than two hours there since it was a Friday long hour lunch for my working colleagues.  After a few months absence from me, it was wonderful to catch up with my ex-colleagues again!
I was super hungry by lunch time and I felt like eating almost anything in the menu. We ended up ordering one main dish each and then sharing them with one another so that we could taste a bit of this and that.....
I felt like eating Aglio Oli…

Famous Wanton Mee At New Hoong Kee, Bandar Sri Damansara

BREAKFAST FEAST..  Best meal of the day is always my first meal because I know I am able to tuck in as much as my stomach can accept.  I eat a lot in the mornings and then slowly dwindle by the end of the day.  As the saying goes, eat like a king in the morning and like a pauper in the evenings.  This is what I normally do nowadays, not because I wanted to, but it is my own body system that tune me this way.  Though I deny I am old but the body says otherwise... LOL...

On this morning, we went to New Hoong Kee in Bandar Sri Damansara, my sibling said this is currently his favourite place.  And after trying, I know why.... the food we ordered, all turned out good and tasty, even the curry reminded me of my good old days!
Managed to catch the name otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell this story now...  My type of curry... I can go without the chicken... Just the other ingredients will do fine for me.. I like the way they cook this curry... Heard the BBQ pork is tasty too... melt in …
