Grilled Seafood And Nasi Kerabu At Taman Bukit Indah, Johor

ONE FINE EVENING NEARING DINNER TIME, WHEN I WAS ASKED WHETHER I WANTED TO GO FOR "GREEN RICE", the only answer from me was YES, YES!!  Any new place to try new food, I am All for it.  "Just lead the way... " I told them and we followed their car from behind.  The place is in Taman Bukit Indah and I was surprised to see that the it is actually a corner terrace house facing the main road.  It was almost 7.30pm when we reached and there were only one or two tables vacant.

I was told that it is normal to wait for an hour for the food to arrive... so if one is too hungry, one can buy the fried fish crackers hanging by the stall.... just eat that as appetizer first before the food is served.  Yes, the fried fish crackers were tasty, no itchiness on the tongue and they are rounded instead of longish in shape.

Here is the place.... open air and spacious at the corner house.....
Can pick and choose whatever seafood we like....
We ordered Grilled Stingray....
Grilled Big Prawns....
Squid or Octopus... I am not sure but they were really fresh and springy!
A very appetizing dish!
And Okra....
Well, all the dishes looked spicy and hot alright!
But I couldn't resist... so I kept cooling myself with glass after glass of herbal drink...
Yes, this is the green rice but it is now no more green in colour....
It is something like Nasi Kerabu... only available during weekends, I heard...
Normal days are white rice....
The bill came to around RM120 plus...
First time coming by here and tasting all the new Food
and won't mind coming again and again next time....
Nice!!

  1. Green rice? Kerabu is blue - the bunga telang flower is blue. Ah yes!!! I think the Johore one is green, if I remember correctly - the one I had here, probably using pandan.

  3. All those grilling fit me well. I love them. Pity my hubby does not fancy them because of the spiciness. Haha.

  4. I first had my taste of grilled stingray in Penang many moons ago.

Yes, please to the grilled food. Is MYR 120 reasonable for the bill?

  5. real nasi kerabu (khao jam) is tat color, from the many herbs used, with their distinctive taste and smell... then people resorted to use blue bunga telang cos easily available...

  6. That green nasi kerabu is khao jam - the Thai version. I heard about it at Capital Nasi Dagand Kelantan. They have it only on special occasions. I have yet to try.

    1. Yes, but half an hour is a normal waiting time.. stingray by itself is bland, so it must be cooked with some other sauce..
