Heart Thumpings At Gurney Paragon, Penang

IT WAS A NIGHT OF EXCITEMENT FOR MALAYSIANS... Young and old alike from all races stay glued to the Big Screen to watch and give support to our badminton players... Yes, I am speaking from Paragon Mall, Penang.

From the day our men doubles, mixed doubles and men single entered into the semis and proceeded to the finals, the badminton topic was on our lips wherever we go.  I thought I would missed watching the semis and the finals for I have to make a trip to Penang to accompany my girl back.  But little did I know that there would be Giant Screen at the Paragon mall for the two nights.... I had never experienced being a crowd to shout and to clap for our badminton players... It was really joyous to join the crowd of the ooohhhss and the aaahhhsss and most of all, the cheers and the clapping ecstatically when our team got a winning point...
Walking along the Gurney Drive before the game starts...

Evergreen Laurel Hotel overlooking the reclaimed land which used to be the sea...
Along Gurney Drive, it is now all fenced up for future projects...
At precisely 7.30pm, the game started with our Dato' Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan!
A True Fan-See!
All the way from IPOH... LOL...
Slowly .. the crowd began to fill up the whole entrance of the Paragon Mall compound...
The cheering crowd... patiently waiting...
And the cheering from the crowd...
One side someone was shouting Malaysia... and other side replying Boleh!
MALAYSIA BOLEH!!
Yes, it was certainly a night to remember....
Heart thumping experiences... Panics... Thunderous Clappings...
Will not dwell on the results..
The best players have won...
Congratulations to them!
The very next morning, we drove back to Ipoh... via the second bridge..
A very nice and smooth journey back to home sweet home....
 Peace from the driver....
As for the passenger, her thoughts are still on the Olympics results...
Just too bad... but then our country players have tried their very Best...
If I were one of them, I would have "collapsed" right on the courts!
Thumbs Up, Malaysians!

  2. Yes, it does not matter that we did not get the gold - they did their best and it sure brought all Malaysians whatever colour or creed together, the true Malaysian spirit and we have to thank our heroes for that - we sure need it...a lot!

I am sad for LCW though that he would have to live the rest of his life putting up with the fact that he did not win the Olympic gold, the one that got away - 3 times silver, no gold. His match against Lin Dam was really a heart stopper! Chinese newspapers reported somebody in Ipoh died?
