Opeam Premier Wine & Dine Restrobar, Ipoh

I JUST CANNOT KEEP TRACK OF ALL THE NEW FOOD OUTLETS IN IPOH... To my recent knowledge, Ipoh has suddenly been on the fast track opening cafes, kopithiams, fine dinings and restrobar?  Wow, I never heard of this word before this, during my younger days, Ipoh is all about hawker food on the streets, coffeeshops with fans and for special occasions, coffeehouse was the trend that time.  Well, Ipoh has indeed "promoted" to a number of fine dining these days....

No such thing as "don't know where to eat" when my girl is around.  I just have to ask her and in a few clicks into her Instagram, she has most of the newly opened cafes and restrobars at her fingertips. Restrobar... hmmmm... I am update myself using that word!   And we went to one of the latest opened in town, for me, everything is just newly opened for I had never heard of it until just last weekend.  She recommended the restrobar called OPEAM, a bungalow just behind De Gardens at Ipoh Garden South.  She called up for reservation, just in case and we have to be there early for the place was fully booked by 8pm.  Wow.. business sounds good!

We reached here around 6.30pm...
True enough, the place was almost fully occupied...

My girl ordered Aglio Olio with smoked salmon... RM22
Her friend ordered Smoked Duck....
Portion looks small for the plate is huge... RM22
I wanted this!  Saw it on the Facebook that it looks fabulous.. so I must try..
Unagi Bento... RM35
Very generous with the Unagi..
I couldn't even finish it all by myself...
For desserts, we have the Alaska Bomb... RM35
Saw this online too... so must try!
The staff will light up the rum and then poured it onto the ice cream covered with egg white..
Took a short clip on that...
Yes, she told us not to "burn" it for too long... and I quickly blew out the flames...
The outer layer is not sweet and now overflowing with rum....
The diffused "Bomb" filled with chocolate and vanilla ice cream....
And of course, the ending of the meal came with another "Bomb" from the wallet...
LOL....

  1. Places this fancy are usually quite expensive. But I am sure everyone wanted to try it out. Your video of the flaming dessert is just GORGEOUS!! And it looks mouth watering after you blew it out! This one dessert would be worth the price of the whole meal to me!

  3. This uncle here is also learning a new word from you - Restrobar!
However I heard it's called Bombe Alaska and my mum was good at bombing this dish. I miss this dessert now.

I agree that Ipoh has changed a lot and no more a sleepy relaxing town. The food everywhere is still good!

  9. I've heard about this place (it's so near my mum's house). It's the baby of the same lady who owns Patisserie in Old Town.
