Hakka Noodles At MXII and Traditional Homemade Cake, Ipoh

BREAKFAST IS OUR FAVOURITE MEAL OF THE DAY... this is the time when we can eat to our heart's content especially in the early morning or brunch, should I say...  Each morning both of us will ask each other, "What to eat?  Where to go?"  And for this particular morning we wanted Hakka noodles in town.  The place is called MXII at Osborne Street, Ipoh... they serve Hakka noodles during the day and one of the best Wantan Koayteow at night.  Usual wait will be 15 minutes or more depending on the time and the season.

For this morning we waited the usual 15 minutes or so for our Hakka noodles to be served....
The presentation of the Hakka noodles here...
Fat crunchy bean sprouts from Ipoh looks like that...
I like the texture of this noodles, softer and springier... compared to others...
I must have picked 10 of these mixed pork fish balls....
My girl took these....
And as usual, I could not remember how much it cost... RM14? RM12?
Really no idea...
Anyway, after our brunch, we went to look for the traditional
Homemade Egg Sponge Cake...
Heard there is one shop open in town....
Yeah, we found it!
Ah Mah's taste of happiness, it says...
It is along Clare street aka Mustapha Al'Bakri now...
That is the shop...
One man show....
We bought one original flavour to try...
Big like this for RM13...
As soft as the one in Gurney Plaza, Penang...
Only that it is not as sweet and the egg fragrant is not as strong....
Since it is not so sweet, I ended up taking a few pieces in one day!
LOL...

  1. The mixed pork meatballs. I love that. Sometimes I will have that too for my breakfast over the weekend.

The traditional egg sponge cake. Reminded me of the Taiwan cake my hubby bought last week. Not that nice. I think yours look and taste nicer.

  5. I also tried the sponge cake (Original Cake) at City Square. I bought the golden cheese flavour at RM20, I also found it not as sweet, would prefer it to be sweeter

  7. As they say, eat more at breakfast and less during dinner. But I always do opposite!

  9. Not liked by many, that Taiwanese egg cake - over-rated, very expensive and nothing spectacular. At least, yours did not have air holes in it - I see that a lot in the photos that others shared. Fail big time!

  10. I am drooling at the soft cake now. It goes well with my coffee.

My White Elephant

WHITE ELEPHANT.... still laying on my table for two months I think....   My friend groomer is not free these days, my poor Labby badly needs her hair cut and leaving no choice, I ordered the grooming shaver online.  I thought it would be easy to install the shaver to the appliance and till today, I am still at my wits end on how it is fixed.  My friend gave me a tip... check out the Youtube, she said.  Yeah, how come I did not think of that.....  But till today, I have not even touched it and my poor furry member will have to wait till this Mama has her right mood to do it.   My own hair also badly needs a hair cut and with the high Covid cases each day, I guess I have to tolerate for another month with my unruly hair..... or perhaps I can make use of this clipper on myself before I use it on my furry member!  LOL.... Crazy me! Still standing nicely on the table....  Still looking at the gadgets.... and not doing anything about them... I am happy with this dish....  Better looking afte

Two Dishes One Soup Dinner

AUNTIE'S SIMPLE COOKING... for dinner on one evening.... Defrosted a piece of cod, my last piece in the freezer besides another few more pieces of other types of fish.  I think I consume the most fish this year, never bought so many types of fish before.  Maybe it is made easier for me this year cos of the online shopping at Gracious, cleaned, vacuumed and free delivery above RM50.   My last piece of cod.... A plate of greens called Yau Mak...  Not so sure what it is called in English And chicken herbal soup....  My complete meal for one evening....  As usual, I do not take much rice... Or perhaps I did not take rice at all for this meal....  LOL...

A Short Stay At Fatima Hospital

TWELVE DAYS SINCE my last post.... I was admitted to the hospital last week for heart palpitations and was under observation for two nights.... Thank God all is well now....  And it is still all about food... this time from the hospital... LOL...  For breakfast 2 slices of bread... oats and milo.... I opted for porridge during one lunch.... And for dinner....  Wanton noodles for breakfast before I was discharged.... This was attached to my body to monitor the palpitations....  And the doctor whom I have chosen without recommendations... I saw the hospital profiles on the doctors  And I chose him because of his cheerful profile picture.... Yes, indeed he is what he looks... And I feel better after that... LOL...
