5 Flooring Designs That Must Be Considered

Vinyl Flooring in Singapore and Malaysia are becoming a very coveted renovation material. With its resistance against water absorption, scratches, or staining, it is deemed by many experts as a highly practical product. Also, vinyl flooring is usually a third the cost of tiles and can come in very well manufactured timbre look designs. They are also easy to install because they do not require the use of cement or adhesives. To add the icing to the cake, vinyl flooring can appear to look seamless too, making it very similar in sight to its more premium natural timber counterpart.

This material is not to be confused with laminate flooring. The resistance of laminate flooring is no where near that of vinyl flooring, let alone tiles! Long gone are the days where laminate flooring was patronised!

Timber Look Tiles

Vinyl flooring only came into fashion all around the World because it is a norm for home owners to opt for a timber look design for bedrooms. In some households, they can even use them throughout the whole house! With parquet flooring being difficult to maintain and very expensive to even acquire, timber look tiles from Italy should always be in contention to be on the floors of your home. Tiles last forever. Furthermore, given the fact that the human traffic within a household is so minimal, our floors in our bedrooms can be guaranteed to look as new even after a decade or two. Opt for rectified tiles to ensure that the edges of each tile are completely right angled, so that you can opt for thinner joint widths that would be instrumental in truly mimicking a natural parquet flooring.

Evolving from the timber look design, tile manufacturers in Europe have definitely brought designs to a whole new level. Tiles replicating oak wood, beech wood, sandalwood, and all other sorts of wood can be easily found in the market. In recent times, the herringbone and chevron format whereby tiles are laid in a V-shape has been very in-trend!

Marble Look Tiles in Large Sizes

Natural marble is always preferred as it indicates some sort of status. Households that are wealthier or in more premium districts are more likely to have marble flooring on their floors. However, whether or not it is practical is another issue. Should you spill red wine or any other non-organic stains on such floors, you can be pretty sure that that little portion of your flooring would be tarnished. Marble is very difficult to maintain, though it can be renewed through polishing at any time. Thankfully for all humans, hyper realistic marble look tiles have emerged! These tiles look exactly like marble and can come as big as 1.6 x 3.2 metres – that is larger than the size of a real marble slab! It is also very fortunate for everyone that certain tile suppliers in Singapore and Malaysia are able to provide the installation for such delicate slabs onto counter tops, walls, floors, and even external wall claddings of great height.

Terrazzo Look Tiles

Supposedly a thing of the past, terrazzo look tiles have come back with a huge bang. Such tiles were used in very old establishments across Malaysia and Singapore back in the day. Many may find them not too appealing and very old fashioned. However, the terrazzo look tiles of today are certainly one to consider. Just check out the image above!

Full Body Porcelain Tiles
Tiles are usually regarded by all laymen as homogeneoustiles. That however, is the wrong terminology! Not every tile you see is homogeneous. A homogeneous tile is one where by the pattern and colour of the surface travel through the whole body of the tile. Meaning to say, if the surface of the tile has black and white veins, you should see black and white in the mid-section of the tile respectively when you break the tile. That being said, you cannot achieve hyper realistic designs this way. For example, think about marble look tiles with a beige base and brown veins. Most certainly, the brown veins are not going to travel through the body of the tile. Such designs are made possible because of a very strong and permanent glaze on the surface of the tile. The colour of the body of the tile will then be the same as the base colour of the surface. Such tiles are much stronger because you will get to witness the same colour still, should there be a chip on the surface of the tile due to wear and tear. So always remember, go for full-body porcelain tiles!
