Popular Bak Kut Teh At Taman Tampoi, Johor

Took our own sweet time on a Saturday morning.  Our first meal of this day was in Tampoi, we purposely skipped breakfast to have our lunch here at this Kedai Bak Kut Teh Hin Hock, Taman Tampoi.  We wanted to beat the crowd before the lunch peak hour.  My girl has not been here before and I know she will love this place for they served fresh water fish with reasonably prices.

As usual, for appetizers, we had these Otak-Otak to start off first....
Otak-Otak direct means brains... but they are not actually brainy food... LOL
As far as I know, these are made of fish flesh mixed with special herbs....
Quite spicy...
We ordered a bundle of 10 costing RM11
The crowd even though it was not noon as yet....
But the food was very swiftly served.. no long waits...
Braised Trotters...
King Vegetables... quite a common sight on most tables...
Cannot resist the soft preserved vegetables....
Steamed fish is a Must!
Very generous with the shallots and garlic...
Fresh fish... just rightly steamed...
Our pot of Bak Kut Teh for five of us...
Let's dug in!
After some minutes, my girl suggested eating another type of fish...
Great..... Why not!
And this fish dish came within some minutes....

Not sure what it is called... but all I know that it is fresh!
Yes, we can finish the two fishes and all....
And the bill came to around RM150plus...
A very good meal, I would say!

  1. Not really a fan of bak kut teh, will eat sometimes for a change - not cheap here if eating outside, might as well cook our own at home. I would love that otak otak though, anytime...and any fish dish is always good - I like!

  2. What a feast! Now you have me craving for BKT. I think there is one at Starling foodcourt. Must go soon. LOL!

  3. I will go for the 2 fresh fish! looks so delicious!

  4. your girl really love to eat fish, good choice.

  5. Sounds like this place has great organization, and also great and fresh food! I believe it is easier for you get get fresh fish than it is for us.

  6. Rm 150 plus for so many dishes, two fishes some more, the price is really very reasonable, i like otah a lot, there are fish otah, crab otah and prawn otah, i like to try all the different types

  7. The price for 10 pieces at RM11.00 is so cheap la.

  8. The delicious looking food is making me drool!

  9. That was one good meal. Otak-otak, I like spicy type. The steamed fish looked good as well.

An Evening Dinner At Chef Chew Kitchen, Petaling Jaya

BACK TO SG. BULOH for a couple of days.... Come evening, we went for dinner at Chef Chew Kitchen in Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya.  Since it was my first time there, I did not know what to expect except to sit back, relax and eat.  LOL... It is a one shop lot restaurant so tables are very limited.  Reservation was made at 6pm to be on the safe side, to avoid crowds and waiting for food was very minimized at this time of the day.  For the seven of us, these dishes were served on the table... Thumbs up even before the dinner...  And soon these are served...  Claypot braised ribs...  Their signature dish... Fish Maw...  First time eating fish maw which is whitish in colour...  Black Beancurd with Pumpkin sauce... Hey, this restaurant indeed serves new to me! This must be Sweet Sauce Chicken... For the American... Cos we Asians like Steamed Chicken like this!  LOL...  And the star dish of the dinner is this...  Freshly steamed and succulent prawns

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...  Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch

Night Market Along Lee Garden Plaza Hotel, Hatyai

BY THE TIME WE REACHED THE HOTEL, it was almost dark. This time round, we took a longer rest in the hotel... my girl might not need it but I certainly did!  After recharging around 80% of my body strength, we were ready to explore the streets again. Our hotel is really a strategic spot for us tourists.  The street vendors were all ready to boost their sales in front, at the side and along the whole stretch of street where we stayed.  Left, right, front... the place was filled with people and tourists like us... I could hear some of them speaking my dialect, we felt kind of at home instead of being tourists.... Besides the street vendors in front of the hotel, there was a night market just five minutes walking distance away from our hotel, Lee Garden Plaza.... Maybe they only opened during the weekends?  I am not sure about that.. .anyway, we were kind of excited to see all the bright lights along the street.... Come... Let's Go! We started from the beginning of the str
