Baking Bread With Tesco Breakmaker

BREAD MODE....

My Khind breadmaker has given up on me, the paddle just wouldn't turn and that happened before the MCO was implemented.  Instead of buying a new one, I borrowed my sister's Tesco breadmaker, I remember she telling me that she stops using it after one try.  Her bread turned out hard, I do not know why.... so I took the risk and tried it myself two days ago.  I googled for the recipe, following the orderly steps as mentioned.  The only change I made is that I used remaining bread flour in my fridge and mixed it with plain flour.

The difference between my Khind and Tesco breadmaker is the sizes.  Khind loaf size is just nice for one person whereas Tesco one is enough for a family of 4.  Anyway..... I can always keep the remaining pieces in the fridge, two pieces per day is more than enough for me.
280ml water
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp brown sugar
420gm flour
1tbsp milk powder (I didn't put cos I don't have that)
pinch of salt
1tsp yeast is the last ingredient to put in...
After 3 hours...
The crust is a bit hard when it is hot....
But softer after cooling down.....
Soft inside though...
8 pieces in one loaf....
For my breakfast this morning....
One piece with Kaya and one with peanut butter...
Very filling...
Next time I will try putting in dried cranberries, raisins and nuts!

  1. Congratulations! You have made good research and baked a perfect loaf. When you add those dried fruits, they will add moisture and light fragrance to your next bread.

  2. It was the craze at one time, cheap then. Everyone in the family bought and was making bread every day...and then it fizzled out. I wonder if they still have their breadmakers and whether they can still be used. At a time like this, I regret not buying one myself - would be nice to make one's own bread, no need to go out and buy.
