Teochew Porridge At Sin Hup Heng, Ipoh

PORRIDGE DAY...

My first meal of the day was around 11 plus in the morning.  We decided to go for porridge along Theatre Street, the shop is called Sin Hup Heng, Chaozhou porridge (Teochew).  I like the food here cos the dishes are served hot from the kitchen.  As usual, do not go during peak hours like 12-2pm, the place will be packed especially now during RMCO, the tables will be quite limited.

For some places, it is quite difficult to find tables for 4 especially when it is just a shop lot.  Since there were 4 of us yesterday, the lady boss approached one lady to sit at another table for 3 and she was so nice to give up her table for us 4.  We ordered few dishes and I ended up taking nearly two bowls of sweet potato porridge.
6 dishes in total....
Clams cooked with soybeans...
Watercress vegetables in sambal sauce...
Our favourite fish to go with porridge...
Salted Ikan Kembong...
Crispy fried pork... a bit on the salty side too....
Goes very well with porridge...
Omelette with big onions....
Braised beancurd...
Controlled myself.... one and a half bowls I consumed....
And having fun with the "photographer"...
You take me, I take you....
Total cost... RM70 for the 4 of us...
Porridge is not cheap nowadays... that is for sure.

  1. Clams are more expensive and you have fish too. Do they serve half bowl of congee?

  2. The fish looks hard because they have been deep fried.

  3. I like this kind of porridge, Teochew porridge where one can order a few dishes to go with the porridge. Not sure if I can get it here - the last time I had that was in 2009 at a shop opposite Low Yat in KL:
