A "Steal-away" Dinner To Sun Marpoh, Ipoh

BACK TO IPOH.... and be a good girl, stay at home quietly for the rest of the week until Saturday came, I went out to take dinner.  My friends came to pick me up and we went to Sun Marpoh Restaurant in Ipoh Garden.  During those "un-covid" days, this restaurant is always full of people, some even have to wait outside.  I always avoid going there during weekends.

However, situation has changed.  No more waits and queues even during dinner peak hours.  There were a few empty tables, not surprising now since we were not encouraged to go out.  (Oh, I only go out during weekends after staying at home quietly the five days)  Anyway, it is good to stay safe by going out less especially now.... but somehow we have to help the economy by eating out once awhile... calling me "wai sik"

For the three of us, we ordered three dishes...
Recommended to be eaten with rice...
Fish slices covered with fried raddish, garlic, dried shrimps... etc...
Very appetizing dish!
Treasure pot dish....
Supposed not to order this... but somehow miscommunication...
Anyway, it is their signature dish...
Inside the pot of treasure of beancurd...
fish maw among other stuff....
A bit too salty for us...
Perhaps we are now used to eating homecooked food with minimal salt...
And a dish of greens....
Three dishes came to around RM80...
Ok, that was for the weekend...
Will stay put in the house for the rest of the week!

  1. Same here! Business sure is quite miserable at the restaurants these days. Went to one for lunch yesterday - we were the only table! Blogpost on that coming up real soon!

  2. Love all 3 dishes. I also cannot take salty dishes. If only the tofu dish is not that salty, then should be nice.

  3. This Treasure Pot dish looks so good! We have nothing like it here. What is the pot made from? Wish I could make it.

  5. When you say stay at home during weekdays, do you mean lock and key or you still will go to your neighbourhood. For me, weekdays i usually will not go to the malls cos i have to WFH until quite late.

An Evening Dinner At Chef Chew Kitchen, Petaling Jaya

BACK TO SG. BULOH for a couple of days.... Come evening, we went for dinner at Chef Chew Kitchen in Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya.  Since it was my first time there, I did not know what to expect except to sit back, relax and eat.  LOL... It is a one shop lot restaurant so tables are very limited.  Reservation was made at 6pm to be on the safe side, to avoid crowds and waiting for food was very minimized at this time of the day.  For the seven of us, these dishes were served on the table... Thumbs up even before the dinner...  And soon these are served...  Claypot braised ribs...  Their signature dish... Fish Maw...  First time eating fish maw which is whitish in colour...  Black Beancurd with Pumpkin sauce... Hey, this restaurant indeed serves new to me! This must be Sweet Sauce Chicken... For the American... Cos we Asians like Steamed Chicken like this!  LOL...  And the star dish of the dinner is this...  Freshly steamed and succulent prawns

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...  Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch

Night Market Along Lee Garden Plaza Hotel, Hatyai

BY THE TIME WE REACHED THE HOTEL, it was almost dark. This time round, we took a longer rest in the hotel... my girl might not need it but I certainly did!  After recharging around 80% of my body strength, we were ready to explore the streets again. Our hotel is really a strategic spot for us tourists.  The street vendors were all ready to boost their sales in front, at the side and along the whole stretch of street where we stayed.  Left, right, front... the place was filled with people and tourists like us... I could hear some of them speaking my dialect, we felt kind of at home instead of being tourists.... Besides the street vendors in front of the hotel, there was a night market just five minutes walking distance away from our hotel, Lee Garden Plaza.... Maybe they only opened during the weekends?  I am not sure about that.. .anyway, we were kind of excited to see all the bright lights along the street.... Come... Let's Go! We started from the beginning of the str
