Christmas Dinner At Grove Diner, Ipoh

CHRISTMAS EVE DINE OUT....

We were not obedient on the eve of Christmas, we did not stay home, instead we made a reservation to have our dinner at Grove Diner.  We had never been there before and I know that to go on a festive season eve will certainly burn a hole in my pocket/wallet/purse.  There is no doubt about that, I called up for reservation a week earlier, the staff sent the menu to me, via whatsapp.  So convenient these days!

For the eve of Christmas, Grove Diner only had 4 choices for us patrons.  Most expensive is the Wagyu beef and its condiments, RM268, followed by the second highest is RM168 and another two choices is the RM69 plus plus.  How about that.... I estimated for the six of us, the bill could easily comes to RM600... LOL...

The set dinner came with a truffle mushroom soup, followed by main course and ended with a dessert.  No drinks were included and five of us had warm water... LOL... so stingy, right?  LOL....
A bungalow house turned cafe along Jalan Tambun, Ipoh....
Me ... wearing like red riding hood....
Actual Story line:  I was wearing a red cut in dress, thinking I would look "glam"....
Once seated, I was freezing... the air con was just too strong for me...
Thank goodness there is a red scarf in my car...
And instead of cut-in, I was wrapped like a "Bah Chang!"
The truffle mushroom soup....
Followed by my choice of dinner....plus 3 others...
Boneless chicken wrapped up with some sauce....
Yes, I could finish the whole lot....
Another RM69 option is this soft crab and king prawn with Aglio Olio Fettuccine....
This is the RM168 main course with different type of meat....
Out of 6 of us, two ordered this main course...
For desserts, we were served Pavlova.. whatever it is....
We also brought a cake along....
To mark this year Christmas 2020!

  1. A nice Christmas Eve dinner. I missed such cuisine.

Pavlova is sweet right?? Never had it. Not so much a dessert eater.

Tomorrow is New Year eve, so wishing you A Happy New Year.

Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner At San Jose 2022

TABLE FOR FOUR... We had our own reunion Chinese New Year dinner on Monday evening.... we made a simple one, just hot pot at home.  All we have to do is to clean the vegetables, get everything defrosted... and the hot pot boiling with a packet of seasoning.  They sell a lot of hot pot seasoning over here, from tomato soup to shrimp and chicken soup, I just threw in the whole packet of paste.  No doubt not so healthy but it is so easily done....  As usual, Chinese New Year won't be CNY without a plate of Loe Sang...  No crackers so I put in a few pieces of Tacos... LOL... Most important is the sauce....  The apricot, plum sauce and honey makes it right.... And our dishes for the evening..... We ate too much shrimps the day before so we omitted for this evening.... Simple and yet satisfying meal for our Reunion Dinner....

Three Hours City Tour At Ensenada, Mexico

A THREE HOURS CITY TOUR when we embarked in Mexico on the second morning.   My sister booked the three hours city tour in Ensenada, Mexico, a van came to pick us up from the port.  Ensenada is the border of Mexico and it reminds me of Hatyai, a border town too between Malaysia and Thailand.  We were taken to a shopping area where we must haggle for the goods.  LOL.. Yes, something common in my own country... Anyway, we did not buy anything for ourselves... just a wooden handmade truck for my grandson which cost $8usd.   Nothing much to shout about on this three hours excursion, I was so sleepy on the way back to the ship that I dozed off and only awaken when we were driven through the town.  All in all, I just wanted to step onto Mexican soil and I would give this a miss if I were to go on this Mexico cruise again.  LOL... At the open area shopping walking towards the Blowhole... This is La Bufadora Blowhole, an amazing natural marine geyser that is capable of shooting water over 60 fe

MISSING IN BLOGGING AGAIN.... this has become a norm now ever since I arrived to this continental... LOL... Now I understand the word of Full Commitment when it comes to taking care of baby... seriously, I have to be fully commited and occupied by this little cheeky fella who is now going to be his 10th month soon.  Wow... time flies, when I first came, he was just slightly over four months... that being said, it is soon time fo rme to pack my bags and leave.  LOL... My 6 months being a babysitter is soon over... and did I say I can hardly wait?  NO, NO... I love my job here and I am going to miss my baby tremendously!  I only don't miss his cries!  LOL...  OK, by the time I write this post, Chinese New Year is over, it is now the 4th day of CNY.  Two days before the Lunar New Year, my daughter-in-law and I cooperated fully and baked a few types of cookies.  Looking back at these pictures, I dare say that we did a good job... not on the cookies but at least we had a great time bond
