First And Second Day Of Chinese New Year

AND IT'S ALL ABOUT FOOD...

Very quiet along my row of house this year unlike the past years, fire crackers could be heard on the eve, first day and more noise on the second day of Chinese New Year.  Today is the actual first day of the Year 2021 for Chinese, we called it Hoi Leen in Cantonese, supposedly to be more important than the first day.  Am I right or wrong?  LOL...

Anyway, as I said earlier, it was a quiet affair, we had our reunion on Facetime, Ipoh, Johor, Singapore, US... we arranged to meet at 12 noon and we interacted for almost an hour.  That is family our reunion for this year 2021.  I invited two friends over on the first day of CNY, just simple brunch.   I just did one dish, vegetarian noodles and a sweet dessert consisting of a few varieties....

For the four of us....
And today we had these....
I cook three dishes and 3 others were "contributed"....
A new dish my friend taught me....
Using garlic, ginger, scallop sauce and kimball chili sauce...
Reminds me of my childhood days...
LOL....

  4. Good that you ate vegetarian on the first day of CNY. I did not eat vegetarian this year as our uncle invited us over to his house for steamboat dinner. Great bonding and chatting over Facetime with your family. The prawns look yummy! Happy Niu Year to you and your family Claire!

  6. I would like to try your prawn recipe. I think I tasted before but never cook it at home. Still have a pack of big prawns in freezer.

Here almost as merrier as last year with fireworks and firecrackers in welcoming the new year on the eve.
