10 Foods That Taste Better with Jelly

Jelly is often thought of as something reserved for breakfast, or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

This fruity spread can actually go beyond that, to dinner, appetizers, and so much more.

1. Grape Jelly Meatballs

Make your meatballs as you normally would, but on the side prepare a mixture of 1 1/2 cups chili sauce, 1 cup grape jelly, and 3 teaspoons Dijon mustard. Marinate your meatballs in a crockpot on low for 4 hours for a sweet and savory dish.

2. Pepper Jelly Glazed Chicken

The sweet heat of pepper jelly is a perfect complement to many a meat dish, but especially chicken.

Baste chicken breasts with a mixture of ⅓ cup red pepper jelly, ⅓ cup Dijon mustard, and ⅓ cup honey before baking to perfection.

3. Mini Smoked Sausages in Jelly Sauce

Along the same lines as the meatballs, this combination is unique but has a little kick.

Put one pound of cocktail sausages, a 12-ounce bottle of chili sauce, and an 18-ounce jar of grape jelly into a slow cooker on low for 4 hours.

4. PB&J Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls are a classic around the breakfast table. Next time you make a batch spread peanut butter and jelly on the flattened dough before rolling it up and baking it.

5. Grape Jelly and Prosciutto Bruschetta

Give guests a quick pre-meal bite with slices of baguettes topped with a mascarpone spread, a dollop of grape jelly, and roll of prosciutto.

6. Grilled Jelly on Brie with Ham

This is a big twist on a grilled cheese. Instead of butter spread jelly on sourdough, top with ham and brie, and heat up until the brie is melted.

This works well with sweet jelly, but don’t be afraid to try pepper jelly if you want to spice things up.

7. Jelly Jalapeno Poppers

The next time you’re stuffing jalapenos to make poppers reach for some jelly. We recommend sweet to offset the spice.

Fill each pepper with a spoonful of cream cheese and jelly, then wrap in bacon and grill for 25 to 30 minutes.

8. Peanut Butter and Jelly Chicken Wings

This classic bar food is turned up a notch with the sweet addition of peanut butter and jelly. Whisk together jelly, peanut butter, vinegar, and cherry juice to make a marinade for wings before grilling them. If you’d like some extra spice, add sriracha to the mix.

9. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is versatile; you can mix just about anything in and it’ll taste great.

To a saucepan add 1/3 cup oats, 1/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/2 banana, mashed. Mix constantly for 3 to 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.

Remove the oats from the heat and add a jelly of your choice on top for a healthy breakfast.

10. Peanut Butter Pancakes with Grape Jelly Syrup

If you add ½ cup of creamy peanut butter to your next batch of pancake batter, you’re well on your way to having PB&J for breakfast.

Top the pancakes with grape jelly instead of syrup for a sweet twist.
