Fine Dining At Canoe House, Mauna Lani, Kona

ONCE A LIFETIME OR SHOULD I SAY YOLO?

Yes, we only live once and we should enjoy to the fullest... within our means, of course!  LOL...And that was what we did.

On this special evening, my son booked a reservation at Canoe House in Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts for dinner.  I did not know what to expect except that he told me that it was a fine dining open air restaurant overlooking the sea.

When we reached, I felt that I was home in Penang, very similar except for the beautiful sunset and cooling wind... and of course the food is different too.  The three of us ordered a 5 course set, not knowing what to expect except the best... LOL.... It cost $95 per pax and I think it is really worth trying.  As I mentioned earlier... YOLO... You Only Live Once!  LOL.....

When we entered the resort, we felt that we were being "stared upon"...
Yes, no kids, no babies in sight... nor Asians too!
Some were looking at our baby in the pram, cooing to him....
Oh I guess this hotel is not for kids...
I asked my son... "did we come to the right place?"
We had our dinner here....
here....
Looks like our Malaysian beaches right?
the sun was going to set....
lower and lower.....
So beautiful....
Catching closer glimpse of the sunset....
The love birds went to capture these before the food arrives....
And soon it was nearly gone...
First course....
I finished to the last drop or piece.... LOL...
Second course....
Third....
Fourth one...
And dessert as the 5th course.....
And this was complimentary cos of wedding anniversary....
Don't forget to mention during the reservation!
LOL...
Yes, our life time experience...
or should I say, that is my once-in-a-lifetime experience.....
LOL.....

  1. "Yes, we only live once and we should enjoy to the fullest... within our means, of course!" DEFINITELY!!! Especially at a time like this - even when we have the money, we really don't know what to do with it. Don't want to eat out, don't want to travel...just #staysafe #staywell #stayhome and we jolly well can't take all that money with us when we go!!!

I save around RM500 because I stopped smoking, another RM500 as I stopped buying TOTO, around RM200 on petrol (and some more on car servicing) as I hardly go out these days...so when I shop for food and fruits, supplies for the house, I will just buy, never mind how expensive! I can afford it!!!

What a lovely place! What lovely views!!! Happy Wedding Anniversary...to your son and his missus, I suppose...not you! LOL!!!

Three Hours City Tour At Ensenada, Mexico

A THREE HOURS CITY TOUR when we embarked in Mexico on the second morning.   My sister booked the three hours city tour in Ensenada, Mexico, a van came to pick us up from the port.  Ensenada is the border of Mexico and it reminds me of Hatyai, a border town too between Malaysia and Thailand.  We were taken to a shopping area where we must haggle for the goods.  LOL.. Yes, something common in my own country... Anyway, we did not buy anything for ourselves... just a wooden handmade truck for my grandson which cost $8usd.   Nothing much to shout about on this three hours excursion, I was so sleepy on the way back to the ship that I dozed off and only awaken when we were driven through the town.  All in all, I just wanted to step onto Mexican soil and I would give this a miss if I were to go on this Mexico cruise again.  LOL... At the open area shopping walking towards the Blowhole... This is La Bufadora Blowhole, an amazing natural marine geyser that is capable of shooting water over 60 fe

Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner At San Jose 2022

TABLE FOR FOUR... We had our own reunion Chinese New Year dinner on Monday evening.... we made a simple one, just hot pot at home.  All we have to do is to clean the vegetables, get everything defrosted... and the hot pot boiling with a packet of seasoning.  They sell a lot of hot pot seasoning over here, from tomato soup to shrimp and chicken soup, I just threw in the whole packet of paste.  No doubt not so healthy but it is so easily done....  As usual, Chinese New Year won't be CNY without a plate of Loe Sang...  No crackers so I put in a few pieces of Tacos... LOL... Most important is the sauce....  The apricot, plum sauce and honey makes it right.... And our dishes for the evening..... We ate too much shrimps the day before so we omitted for this evening.... Simple and yet satisfying meal for our Reunion Dinner....

Phil's Fish Market And Eatery, Moss Landing

DAY TRIP TO MOSS LANDING...  I did not know what to expect since I had not been there before.  We took an hour plus drive to this seafood place, it is an open air restaurant whereby you can dine by the sea or inside.  We chose the latter, since it was quite windy in the open air.  With a baby kid, it is best to have some warmth inside the restaurant. Yes, there was already a queue by the time we reached there, it was actually between lunch and dinner and yet, patrons were ready to have their meal.  Though the queue looked long, we could get a place within 10 minutes or so.   Almost the same picture but someone was looking at me when I took these...  Almost reaching the finishing line to enter ... Clam Chowder to start off...  Cioppino... A combination of seafood... Mussels, prawns, crabs, clams...  Eat what the fishermen eat... Dip the bread in the sauce... Yes, I like this... Fried chicken chunks...  And I still prefer the Cioppino compared to this....  Baby enjoying his own food befo
