Refreshing Coconut Desserts At JELLYBAR, Bercham, Ipoh

UPON REACHING HOME AFTER MY BRUNCH IN NOODLE HOUSE, my foodie friends called me to say that they were coming on the way to fetch me out again... Yay!! So happy to go out again.. more on the company than on the food actually... but this time it was not on heavy meals but just Desserts!! How joyful one can be to indulge in the sweet delights after our first meal...

Thanks to my friend's sharp eyes, the moment she read about this Jellybar in Facebook, she messaged us to go and try...... Wasting no time, she also googled for directions and the next day the three of us "landed safely" right in front of this shop in Bercham...
See this?  JELLYBAR!
hahahaha...
Upon entering, I am surprised that the layout is actually very simple...
And We are simple patrons too!!

Specialty is Jelly, of course....
I asked the price of this one... RM40 or was it RM50?
While waiting, one can always look around at these toys displayed..
Books displayed for you and me too!
True... who likes to admit their mistakes?
That's why some of us never learn...  ooppss...
GUESS which one I like Best?
Smiling one is cute too...
Or This Cool Guy??
But actually I love them all....!
And now for the dessserts!
We eyed this the night before already....
Three scoops of homemade coconut ice cream...
Yam and Coconut Jelly...
One of them is FOC...
Oh, this too was complimentary...
The lady boss wanted us to try her Durian homemade ice cream...
How did I feel????
The picture tells it all...
And how was the taste?
Finished to the brim...
Well....
Choices might be a few...
But since they are all homemade,
I wouldn't mind going again for those refreshing delights!

Meet-Up At Peking Noodles House, Ipoh

WOKE UP TO THE SOUNDS OF MUSIC.... but alas, the music was from the lawn mower! Why did this fella have to come so early in the morning to cut grass?? I am a light sleeper, any kind of noise especially those unwanted ones will be able to wake me up from my dreams...

Leaving no choice, I got up much earlier than my waking time and did some chores to pass time.  My appointment for this morning was at 11am and I had my first meal of the day with two friends, they are also bloggers and I am sure many know them too!
We had our meetup in Peking Noodles house suggested by Cheah...
Elin and I tried the noodles made from spinach *bayam*
Cheah's order is the regular one...
We had some side orders... crispy fried "sengkuang" with spring onions...
Quite tasty.... I know I should refrain...
Two pieces and that was it...
The beancurd was kind of special too...
And our brunch was complete...
Will be able to last me throughout the day till dinner... *I hope*
Had a good time catching up with one another...
Hope we will catch up again one day....
*Now yearning for some desserts!*

Why Cuba Is A Fantastic Holiday Destination

Ever since I retired in March, I have been bitten by the "travel bug" and it is still biting me until today.  In April, I flew to Adelaide, spent a week there and came home fully refreshed with sweet memories.  A month later, I had a two months vacation in California, visited 25 counties and did not feel like coming home to my tropical country in July.  I wish I could stay there for another four months till my visa expired.  From July till today I have been driving out of state on and off, taken some domestic flights down south to save time on the eight hours drive on the road.  Coming to think of it, it is no surprise that whenever my friends see me, the same question comes out.. "Where are you off to next?"  Well, if I am given an opportunity, I have a few countries in mind actually and the most recent one that I was invited to is Cuba!

Why Cuba?  Yes, I was asking my friends the same thing!  Two of my friends are planning to go to Cuba and has asked me to join them but firstly, I wanted to know more about this fascinating island which is situated some miles south of the Florida Keys.

From what I heard, Cuba is an easy-going, multi-racial population which is still not fully developed and have its own unique individuality even though it is nearby to its American neighbor. Nevertheless Cuba offers a totally unique Caribbean holiday experience for all visitors especially those who love the sun, sea and sand, glorious flora and fauna and spectacular scenery in this very special island.  In fact there is something special for everyone who loves exploring into adventures and new cultures.

In Cuba, music is life, it is a home of music, more on modern rumba, mamba, cha-cha-cha and salsa.   There is one saying in Cuba, "Sing like no one is listening and dance like no one is watching." Wherever you go on the island, the music will be following you!  You can be just that, right in the city of Cuba, a place where you can just be what you wanna be, whether you are walking to the market when a gang of guitar-playing troubadours start to serenade or you could be eating at a sidewalk when the waitstaff breakout into an impromptu rumba!  Well, it says that music is life in Cuba!

When it comes to accommodation, they are easily accessible, just try Esencia Experiences.  There is a wide selection of places to choose from, whether hotels, resorts, beautiful historic colonial buildings, commercialized or non-strategic locations, depending on individual choices.  In fact there is so much to see and experience in Cuba that it would be nearly impossible to do it all on just one visit.

All in all, Cuba is a world of rousing rhythms, luscious landscapes and the friendly locals make charismatic Cuba a top travel destination for lovers of music, food, culture and life!

Well, this is what I have heard and read. So lovely, I am memorized..... one fine day, I might find myself surfing the Caribbean seas, basking under the cooling sunset in the evenings and moonlight... who knows, this Cuba might be my next choice of destination in the coming months!

First Garden Dim Sum In The Morning

FOOD SPREE ON A FRIDAY MORNING!! Woke up with a pang of joy, another blessed day of meeting up with my "foodventurers" to try out something new again... but before we ventured out, we had a light breakfast in First Garden. I was yearning for a bite of the BBQ dumpling *char siew pau* .... just a small bite will do actually but we ended up ordering something more than just a small bite! hahahaa....
Actually only this much... not really a lot for the three of us...
Spinach dumpling... one for each....
This is kind of special... chicken with sticky rice inside the dumpling...

My yearning-for BBQ dumpling and "Nam Yue Pau"...
Wonder who ordered this.... hmmmm.....
One Yam Dumpling to be shared.... fair...
Just took a small piece....
Here's something to laugh at when someone took this pic...
.....With food still in our mouths!!

Reanaclaire Remembers *Far Kau*

IT WAS A NO FRILLS HOMECOOKED MEAL with my kids yesterday... (presentation is not always there) hahahaa...

It was as early as 7am that I woke up and ran an errand for a friend and since it was super early, I went marketing to get some stuff for dinner... I suddenly remember that I have not used any of my "far kau" (fish maw) which I bought from US, in fact I totally forgotten about them until I rummaged my fridge!  tsk.. tsk... And...  since there were two extra "eaters" in the house yesterday, it was the perfect time to whoop up the special soup before they go off again.....
Our early dinner at 4.30pm...

Steamed eggs with minced meat....
Blanched broccoli as requested by my girl....
Nyonya Assam Fish...
This time I bought one whole fish *Ikan Senangin*
And our "Far Kau" chicken soup with red dates, wolfberries and some slices of ginseng..
My girl was asking what is "Far Kau"...
Then I told her about the HK series "Line Walker" ...
Immediately she recalled and ended up drinking and eating all of it....
*One lesson learnt... I must not put too many pieces.. *

Let's Rock Again With The Curry!

IT HAS BEEN SOME TIME SINCE I LAST WENT TO LET'S ROCK... Taking dinner here reminds me of some bittersweet memories cos this is one of my mom's favourite place, she loves to come here for the soup noodles and at times for the curry... so much so that when she suggested this place, my siblings and I would say, "Oh no, not again???"

I guess it is more than a year since my last visit to this shop... this time there were four of us and I was kind of yearning for the claypot curry fish head.... and these were what I ordered....

This is a "S" size claypot curry fish head which cost RM25 now....
Besides fish head in the santanic curry,
there are prawns, long beans, brinjals, okra, beancurd skin as well...
Lots of fried stuff to choose from too....
Now... these are my choices....  a bit of this and that...
And the best part is the mixed noodles...
Best eaten with the creamy curry!
