Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel In Hatyai Bombing Incident

My neighbour, an ex-teacher turned tour guide, is always organizing day trip tours around Malaysia.  So far I have followed him once and going to follow his day tour for the second time somewhere next week.

When I saw him this evening, I asked him to organize a trip to Hatyai some day.  He looked at me with bewilderment.  "HUH, you still want to go Hatyai?"  I said why not, it has been few years since I last been there, in fact more than a decade already.

Then only I heard from him that there was a bomb exploded in Lee Gardens, Hatyai... I was kind of shocked... "Lee Gardens Hotel?"  This is the hotel most Malaysians like to stay in.... Gosh.. I didn't know that something drastic happened... I never read newspapers nor listen to the news these days...

Oh dear... why the bomb...My friends and my sister stayed there before... and most  of my friends like to stay in this hotel too... Fourteen people have cherished and hundreds were injured... I guess it is not safe to go there anymore... Nowhere is safe, huh....

  3. In fact, now is the safest time to visit Haadyai because there will be tight police security around the city and you can really bargain for the best price. Vendors will simply give in during such bad season. I am not joking, my friends are organising a tour to Haadyai this coming weekend to sapu cheap cheap stuff.

  7. Yes, sadly there is nowhere safe these days. Here, there are always shootings at our schools. The school kids themselves are the shooters. Many are injured and die.

  8. I think now is the best time visit Hatyai! Bombings never happen one after another in a short space of time especially with all the tightened security. But it's sad to read such news. Sad for the victims.

  10. Yes the news came as a shock for me too, since a was there with 3 bloggers juz a couple of months ago, and we went gaga buying at the Boots pharmacy which is just located near the lifts which goes up to the Lee Garden hotel. I was supposed to organize a trip there for Mom and her siblings early this month too. Thank heavens I was busy with work and had to postponed organizing the trip. I'm sad for those who died, their families and the people of Hatyai who rely so much on tourist dollars. Looks as if they will be swatting flies for a long time to come.

  12. You didn't know??? My blogger-friend, JFook...his parents were eating on the 13th Floor and they thought it was an earthquake. Then some tourists asked them to run to the swimming pool...I think on the 12th Floor...and they were rescued from there and evacuated to safety - sent to the hospital. Luckily, they were all right.

I wouldn't want to go to such places - Bali's another one - how many cases of bombing already! Come to Sibu lah...food is good and cheap, people are friendly and nice...and everyone is everyone's neighbour, side by side! Right or not?

  18. things like this happen:-( and its crazy that people can think of wanting to harm the public in this manner.

this place seems quite close to where i stayed previously. we didn't take this place as it didn't really have a secured parking that we needed for the convoy.
