Short Getaway To Kampar

Another weekend getaway... but somewhere near to Ipoh, only a 45 minutes drive to a place called Kampar.  It has been some time since I last went there... Those days before the highways were built, we had to pass through the small towns to do down south.  One of them is Kampar and we love to go there for our breakfast before proceeding to KL.   But ever since the north south highways are built, these small towns were more or less neglected but brought back to life when KTAR and UTAR are built.

Back to my short day trip, my friend and I began our drive to Gopeng and then to Kampar for our breakfast cum lunch....
Kampar during the 1990sss...
(took this picture which was hung in a coffeeshop)
I ordered this bowl of porridge.... it is "croaky porridge"

Love this paku pakis (wild ferns) with peanuts sauce...
Some crispy fried fish balls... they cost only 10 sen each!!

My sister recommended this dumpling
Well, it might not look translucent and nice looking..
but after taking a bite, it reminded me of those dumplings
which my mom used to make during our younger days....
And I ended up buying back a few packets for dinner!!
Oh, I am not a coffee lover but when my friend told me that it was best!!  Feeling curious, we asked the boss what brand he used and he brought over the whole tin of coffee powder to show us... hahahaa..... He said that many of his customers also commented that this coffee has the "Ummmph" and the "Kick."  I am not a coffee lover but after he told me this, I had to take a sip from my friend's glass. Well, I think it tasted good but not so sure it is great.... hahahaa.....

Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner At San Jose 2022

TABLE FOR FOUR... We had our own reunion Chinese New Year dinner on Monday evening.... we made a simple one, just hot pot at home.  All we have to do is to clean the vegetables, get everything defrosted... and the hot pot boiling with a packet of seasoning.  They sell a lot of hot pot seasoning over here, from tomato soup to shrimp and chicken soup, I just threw in the whole packet of paste.  No doubt not so healthy but it is so easily done....  As usual, Chinese New Year won't be CNY without a plate of Loe Sang...  No crackers so I put in a few pieces of Tacos... LOL... Most important is the sauce....  The apricot, plum sauce and honey makes it right.... And our dishes for the evening..... We ate too much shrimps the day before so we omitted for this evening.... Simple and yet satisfying meal for our Reunion Dinner....

My White Elephant

WHITE ELEPHANT.... still laying on my table for two months I think....   My friend groomer is not free these days, my poor Labby badly needs her hair cut and leaving no choice, I ordered the grooming shaver online.  I thought it would be easy to install the shaver to the appliance and till today, I am still at my wits end on how it is fixed.  My friend gave me a tip... check out the Youtube, she said.  Yeah, how come I did not think of that.....  But till today, I have not even touched it and my poor furry member will have to wait till this Mama has her right mood to do it.   My own hair also badly needs a hair cut and with the high Covid cases each day, I guess I have to tolerate for another month with my unruly hair..... or perhaps I can make use of this clipper on myself before I use it on my furry member!  LOL.... Crazy me! Still standing nicely on the table....  Still looking at the gadgets.... and not doing anything about them... I am happy with this dish....  Better looking afte

Two Dishes One Soup Dinner

AUNTIE'S SIMPLE COOKING... for dinner on one evening.... Defrosted a piece of cod, my last piece in the freezer besides another few more pieces of other types of fish.  I think I consume the most fish this year, never bought so many types of fish before.  Maybe it is made easier for me this year cos of the online shopping at Gracious, cleaned, vacuumed and free delivery above RM50.   My last piece of cod.... A plate of greens called Yau Mak...  Not so sure what it is called in English And chicken herbal soup....  My complete meal for one evening....  As usual, I do not take much rice... Or perhaps I did not take rice at all for this meal....  LOL...
