All About Madrid

Why visit Madrid?
The city of Madrid is located in the center of Spain,a short distance away from many historical towns. This city is known for its ancient architecture, its food and its nightlife.

Why go to Madrid?
There are many reasons why to travel to Madrid. The city is an ideal destination for a city break, with many historical landmarks, restaurants worth a visit and a wide range of hotels and hostels to choose from.

How to get to Madrid?
Madrid has a large international airport, the Barajas Adolfo Suárez airport. This airport has four terminals covering low-cost flights to cities around Europe and many national and international flights. The city is connected to Barcelona, Malaga, Sevilla and Valencia by the high-speed AVE trains. There is a bus network around the Iberian peninsula and several trains linking the city to smaller towns.

Where to stay?
Madrid is a city that has a large variety of accommodation options. Choose between apartments located in the ethnic Lavapiés district and attics in the trendy and hip Malasaña neighbourhood. If you want to stay in a hostel, check out the hostels near the city center, in the Sol and Huertas areas, close to where most of the city's bars and nightclubs are. Head towards the five-star designer hotels around the Paseo del Prado area if you are looking for a more chic option.

Where to eat?
Madrid is a city for foodies. If you choose to visit this city, you have to spend an afternoon tasting tapas in the La Latin district, located a short walk south of the historical city center. In this area you will find bars serving authentic cider from the northern region of Asturias and restaurants where you can taste a selection of pintxos, skewered appetizers from the north of the country. Some of the most typical tapas, those that can be found in almost any bar in the city, are tortilla de patatas potato omelet, patatas bravas potatoes served with spicy sauce and a selection of olives served with pickles and sweet onions.

What to visit?
There are many landmarks one must visit during their trip to Madrid. Visit the three main art museums, the Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen Bornemisza museums. Then enjoy a lunch near the Huertas district before walking towards the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. Take a guided tour around forty of the palace's rooms, including the throne hall. The palace has more than two thousand rooms decorated with art by Goya and Velazquez.

Take a walking tour around the historical city center, including the famous Puerta de Sol and Plaza Mayor squares. Walk towards the Plaza de España square, where a fountain and statue dedicated to Don Quixote and Sancho Panza is located. From here head towards the Templo de Debod, an Ancient Egyptian temple that was brought to the city from the Egyptian region of Nubia. Explore the temple, which has a museum and hieroglyphs. Then walk towards the observation deck located nearby in order to enjoy the sunset and the views towards the city center.

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...
Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch here in …

Caring And Sharing At Limestone, Regal Lodge, Ipoh

IMPROMPTU GATHERING.... Nothing was planned beforehand, it was only at the last minute that we received call to have lunch at Limestone Cafe, inside Regal Lodge.  It was my first time there to have set lunch.  The menu prices were reasonable, around RM15.90 for the main dish, RM3 for a bowl of soup and RM2 for ice cream.  Other than that, coffee, tea and soft drinks are free.
We were there not so much for the food but for the ambiance... we practically had the whole cafe to ourselves during that lunch hour.  Only one or two tables were occupied and we spent more than two hours there since it was a Friday long hour lunch for my working colleagues.  After a few months absence from me, it was wonderful to catch up with my ex-colleagues again!
I was super hungry by lunch time and I felt like eating almost anything in the menu. We ended up ordering one main dish each and then sharing them with one another so that we could taste a bit of this and that.....
I felt like eating Aglio Oli…

Famous Wanton Mee At New Hoong Kee, Bandar Sri Damansara

BREAKFAST FEAST..  Best meal of the day is always my first meal because I know I am able to tuck in as much as my stomach can accept.  I eat a lot in the mornings and then slowly dwindle by the end of the day.  As the saying goes, eat like a king in the morning and like a pauper in the evenings.  This is what I normally do nowadays, not because I wanted to, but it is my own body system that tune me this way.  Though I deny I am old but the body says otherwise... LOL...

On this morning, we went to New Hoong Kee in Bandar Sri Damansara, my sibling said this is currently his favourite place.  And after trying, I know why.... the food we ordered, all turned out good and tasty, even the curry reminded me of my good old days!
Managed to catch the name otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell this story now...  My type of curry... I can go without the chicken... Just the other ingredients will do fine for me.. I like the way they cook this curry... Heard the BBQ pork is tasty too... melt in …
