Hakka Noodles In Hong Hin Old Town, Ipoh

I love to take my breakfast in this shop here in old town but I seldom have a chance to. The reason is that this shop is always "Full House".... Sometimes I will stand and wait for awhile but most times, I will land up in some other shops nearby.   This shop is called Hong Hin and it has been operating since 1970s.  I was working nearby then and the vendors were quite elderly.  But now it is being manned by a young couple and their mama. (I think)
On this particular morning, I saw a Caucasian making some enquiries at the stall... 
 
I overheard he asking what the ingredients are... fish?  How about this?  
And the young lady was patiently explaining to him despite the busyness...
We were sitting on the five foot way.... and from my angle, this building came into view...
Nice colonial building... now only I realize...

Just right opposite from where I am sitting
is the Goldsmith shop which has been operating many years ago.....
Soon my noodles arrived.... Hakka Mee!
Love all the spring onions...
And the normal "Liews" I normally order.... 
For the combination, it only cost RM3.20
We were a bit taken aback...
Now we know why this shop is always  crowded...
What is Cheap and Nice, the Ipohians will  be there!!

  1. Is this famous? And my Ipoh friends only know how to bring us to drink kopi and eat roti or kuih if we go to Ipoh old town...

    1. If you want to come to this shop, you need to be early.. By 9.30 or so, the noodles are sold out.. :)

  2. I didn't hear wrongly, did I? RM3.20 for the noodles & "liews". So very cheap. Like the colonial building too.

  7. Hakka mee I like.. I can eat everyday.. But here is whiter one. And dryer.. No dark dark sauce one.. Plain, with just minced meat and some char siew.. Sedapppp..

    1. Yes.. each place has their own special way of cooking it... if all same, then will be boring.. for Wai Sik people like me, I prefer to try different styles... :)

My Failed Project In Baking Mini Egg Cakes

FAILED THIS TIME..... Mini Birthday Celebration At August Healing, Ipoh

GETTING HEALED AGAIN... this time four of us went to August Healing for other sweet and savoury delights.  This time when we went up to the little cafe, the tables were all occupied except for one.  Next time we must not go during lunch time.  Mistake....  Anyway, we managed to get a table near the window while waiting for another two of my friends to arrive.  First time visit for them and I hope they like the food there as much as I like them.  We ordered three different varieties to share as we had a heavy breakfast in the morning....  Which shall I choose? Home Cooked Dishes

NOT MUCH HAPPENING... and lazy too.... My neighbour gave me half pumpkin and I have been keeping it for a couple of days before I finally decide what to do with it.  I cook it into small chunks and sauteed it with minced meat, okra and basil leaves.  Yes, it would be great to put in some small cilipadi but unfortunately, I did not find any in my fridge.  Steamed a bowl of rice and that was meal for dinner.... One dish meal....  Pumpkin reminds me of sweet potatoes...sweet after cooking... Another dinner meal consist of Sambal Fish, black pepper met and a hard boiled egg  I only boiled the egg, the other two dishes were "sponsored" by my neighbour... LOL...
