Ipoh Desserts And Black Thorn

MY FRIENDS AND I HAD LUNCH AT LOKE WOOI KEE COFFEESHOP..... I didn't take any pictures then cos I was too engrossed in the peanuts pancake.... and after our lunch, we just crossed the road to the opposite side to try the desserts at the Tai Soo No. 1.  It is located at the side of a corner shop, just a small corner with three of four tables along the five foot way.

Since my friend had never tried their desserts before, we ended up ordering some funny additions to the authentic Tau Foo Far (beancurd dessert)
Tau Foo Far with Red Beans....
Tau Foo Far with Cendol...
Well, how was the taste for the above two?
If you ask me, I rather stick to the original... that is... no additions to the beancurd dessert..
Eat it just the way it is supposed to be.... it is not meant to be added anything else...
The varieties are only meant for the Ice Kacang...
See what I mean?  The ingredients are meant to be for this...
hahahaha...
Anyway, at least we got to experience some new taste....
Total cost is slightly below RM10
More desserts were served upon reaching home...
My friend brought along this special durian from Penang called Black Thorn...
And one box was definitely not enough....
I ordered some durians from my former office....
These are real "kampong" durians....
So creamy and nice too....
And the price was definitely much cheaper than those "branded" ones.....
Oh dear, I guess I have to refrain from any more durian purchase...
These will definitely last me for one week or more!

  1. I haven't had any durian so far this season..It is always more costly over here. I would love to have the Ice Kacang, looks very refreshing.

  2. hmmm, the "special" TFF actually looks okay to me but of course i can never tell how they taste until i have really tried them, haha.. so they have the red beans and cendol version, i am sure they can have sweet corn and cincau TFF also since all are ingredients for ABC, and oh, ice-cream TFF anyone?? :D

  7. Me too I like "old taste". Don;t like to add this and that for TTF and Cendol. Below RM10 kira as super cheap lo. If in some "branded" shop one bowl like that cost RM10 above leh.

  9. This morning I saw your durians and just now I went to buy some hah..hah... beh tahan :D I bought Musang King and it cost me a small fortune :( But never mind lah, once in a while can belanja own self. I agree with you that tau foo fah should be eaten purely by itself. So weird to add other ingredients.

  12. Wow! Black Thorn durians are expensive in KL as they had to come from Penang.
You have eaten almost all varieties of durians this season.
