Snakehead Fish And Fruits In Lawan Kuda, Gopeng

ALL WAS NOT LOST EVEN THOUGH the restaurant we went to earlier was not opened yet... Thanks to my two foodie friends, we still managed to get hold of some other options for our lunch.  There are two restaurants right on the main road in Lawan Kuda, both which I had not been to before and I was all ready to go to either one....  These restaurants are famous for their "Sang Yue"  *Ikan Haruan* aka Snakehead fish.
On the right is Restaurant Xin Qi Jia Fa....
On the left is Restaurant J.J. Fatt and we ended up going to this one..
There were only two tables occupied upon entering and in no time,
our dishes were being served...
Steamed beancurd with minced meat...
One fish can be dished out to become two different styles....
Stirfry with ginger and spring onions....
Fresh and nice....
And the rest of the fish was whooped into a soup base....

The soup consists of chinese wine cooked with some herbs, red dates and wolfberries...
For the three of us, we had a generous share of the soup...
A very fleshy meal, the bill came to RM56 with rice and drinks.....
Even though our tummies were filled after a heartful meal,
we did not go home empty-handed....
Another one of my favourite fruit season is on now!!

    2. It depend on the type or species of the snakehead. If I am not mistaken, the bigger type like the giant snakehead (usually found in south asia or southeast asia e.g Malaysia) and the northern snakehead (north asia like northern China), are called ikan Toman. The smaller variety like the striped snakehead are called ikan Haruan.

My Failed Project In Baking Mini Egg Cakes

FAILED THIS TIME..... I don't know why, I follow exactly the ingredients and the method written in her website but it was not successful.  Something went wrong somewhere but I don't think I want to try it again.  This recipe is called Mini Egg Cake which is supposed to be soft, airy, light sponge cake but the way I made them, they turned out hard and crusty cake.   If I try again one day, I will half the portion... cos I like to eat these traditional egg cakes.... The Ingredients...  No point putting the recipe here since I failed..  LOL...  The portions of this recipe....  It looked very promising when I put them into the oven.... Even when they were in the baking process... they look good, aren't they? LOL...  I was so happy just by looking at the mini egg cakes in the tray....  And after they were let out... my heart sank....  The minute I took them out from the tray, I knew... Hard at the top...  Tak Jadi = Failed.... Now come to t

Our Orders From Afghanistan, Spanish And Australia

My Final post on the Food Festival in the Victoria Market on Wednesday night.... The atmosphere at the market was "enhanced" by the cheerful songs and music by a group band... It was indeed a merry evening filled with music-licous folk songs in the air... . Ok, how to find four seats in this crowd.... hmmmm....... Somehow we managed to... and these were what my boys brought back to our table.... Mexican rice with oysters... or is it Spanish rice?   Both are the same, I guess... LOL.... Afghanistan Food.... chunks of chicken meat with naan.... Brazilian food.... don't ask me what it is.... I just ate what was on the table....  But I am amazed by this giant burger....  ..... and what burger is this? They told me it is Crocodile Tail Burger! Meat from the crocodile tail?  Is it just a name or what... I really don't know... Took a few bites of it... and I am full!! Well, these were the food we

Home Cooked Dishes

NOT MUCH HAPPENING... and lazy too.... My neighbour gave me half pumpkin and I have been keeping it for a couple of days before I finally decide what to do with it.  I cook it into small chunks and sauteed it with minced meat, okra and basil leaves.  Yes, it would be great to put in some small cilipadi but unfortunately, I did not find any in my fridge.  Steamed a bowl of rice and that was meal for dinner.... One dish meal....  Pumpkin reminds me of sweet potatoes...sweet after cooking... Another dinner meal consist of Sambal Fish, black pepper met and a hard boiled egg  I only boiled the egg, the other two dishes were "sponsored" by my neighbour... LOL...
