Homecooked Style Dishes At Sin Hup Kee Restaurant @ Ipoh

IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I last went to Sin Hup Kee restaurant along Jalan Leong Sin Nam... This place was a frequent joint for my kids when they were very young and ever since they left Ipoh, we did not go there anymore.  Never thought of this place when they come back for their holidays mainly because there is not enough time to cover the food joints. LOL...

When my sister suggested going here for our dinner one fine evening, I was all for it.... If we want fast service, it is wiser to reach there around 6pm... and that was exactly what we did.... true enough, there were just a few tables occupied and by the time we finished our dinner, the tables were almost occupied in this double shophouse restaurant.  Their dishes are more like homecooked food at its simplest form...
Only three of us but we ordered four dishes!
How about that..... hmmmmm...

Their signature chicken in their special sauce....
Yes, the dishes came in small portion since there were only three of us...
Looks like roti canai with egg....
This one with added minced meat...
The young fresh sweet potato leaves....
And the appetizing Assam Stingray Curry...
Yes, it is indeed very appetizing.... with lots of greens too...
And a Happy Face to say it all...
Bill came to around RM55 or so with rice and drinks...

  1. Yeahhhhh!!!!!! I remember this place! You and Elin took me and my entourage to Ipoh there for lunch. Loved the food, so very very nice! Glad to know that it is still going strong after all these years.

  6. The food looked good.

I can't remember if I ever had sweet potato leaves. Does it taste like local spinach?

Stingray was not popular with Chinese in Kuching so I was told but I cannot verify if there was any truth in it. I guess it is not a cheap fish when eating out.
