The Bay Fish N Chips, Stonehaven, Aberdeen

THE NEXT EVENING WAS A FRIDAY.... Aaron came back earlier than his usual time and took us to Stonehaven, a 15 miles away and a half hour drive from our place.  It is my third time going to Stonehaven and as far as I can remember, the famous joints are The Bay and Auntie Betty's.

Originally a fishing village built around the High Street, and formerly known as Stonehive, the town has grown to a population of around 11,000. The sense of history, with the impressive ruined fortress of Dunnottar Castle, the awe inspiring views of the sea and harbour, the friendliness of the local people, combine to make Stonehaven  special.  Stonehaven is the main county town of Kincardineshire and the Mearns, although, due to Local Government changes, the town now lies within Aberdeenshire.  In August 2010, Stonehaven was voted the best seaside town in Scotland in a survey carried out by the Bank of Scotland which looked at the quality of life in coastal towns throughout the country, looking at factors such as crime rates, weather, property prices and earnings.

I normally don't like the normal Fish n Chips cos the fish Are usually frozen.  But I have second thoughts when I tasted The Bay Fish n Chips, the fish is so fresh and succulent.  My girl who is rather fussy on food, told her brother that we must come here here again for their Fish!!  And of course, it includes their homemade ice cream too!
The Bay is our first stop!
Just look at the long queue...
Two lines and someone need to queue up for the famous Fish n Chips, right!
While waiting, we walked around.....
Ample parking for the locals and tourists....
Along the beach....
Stonehaven is another one of the famous beach spots....
A relaxing place to chill out.....How I wish...

Yes, wishing Labby is here strolling too....
Outside the Auntie Betty's ice cream shop....
And our enormous fish n chips!
Two scoops of rum n raisin and diam something....
Thanks Aaron for waiting and getting us our dinner!
We are famished....Let's dig in!!

That fish and chips place is a good find. Very hard to find restaurants selling fresh fish there, since their SOP is immediately freeze everything.

  8. The traditional fish and chips. Looks good!

Triple cooked chips were at one point quite readily available in traditional fish and chip shops in London but not so now. I don't know about up North. Unfortunately, polystyrene is still widely used although paper plates and paper food cartons can be seen in fish and chip shops in London including other eateries.

  9. What a lovely place by the beach! I agree that most Fish & Chips used frozen fish and they tasted different.

Without your glasses, you always looked like Aaron's sister. Now you looked like his loving mama! You look elegant with glasses.
