Best Johor Fish Ball Noodles At Lai Kee, Tun Aminah, Johor

FRESH FROM THE OVEN POST! My best taken noodles so far..... YUMMYLICIOUS!!

Just this morning we had a very nice and authentic breakfast at a shop in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah. Heard that this is a household name in Johor Bahru, operating since 1987 and still is as crowded as ever for three generations now.  Hmmmm... hope it will still be "handed down" for generations to come, very difficult to find this type of authentic and tasty food handed down from the fore-fathers. :)  Thanks to my in-laws, they brought us here this morning to have our tummies filled.

It is not surprising that we have to wait almost half an hour for our noodles to come.  Meanwhile they served us with crispy fish cake for sides.  There are two types of the crispy fish cake and we tried them both.  Slightly on the salty side if eaten just like that but together with the noodles, they blend in very well for the soupy broth was not salty at all.  As for the fish balls, they are handmade, comes out with different sizes, not snowy white as those sold on the shelves.  These handmade fish balls reminded me of my younger days' taste.... get what I mean?  Very rare to get these real fresh Ikan Parang fish balls nowadays..... everything seems to be so commercialized...
Taken inside the moving car before we left...
Lai Kee at 90, Jalan Pahlawan 2, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Skudai...
Must order these "sidekicks"
And the fish pancakes...
When the noodles arrived half hour later, we had to order another round of "sidekicks"....
The second round of the sidekicks!

A Happy Patron with his piping hot bowl of Koay Teow...
For 4 people, we actually ate around RM70 worth of fish!
Looks like we were a hungry lot... hmmmm.....

  1. So this place preserves your food heritage! Is it close to your home? I know you will be returning! The fish looks very good, I have never seen it prepared like this.
