Scotty McCreery In Always On My Mind

When I received a phone call that Scotty has sung "Always On My Mind" last night in American Idol, I quickly clicked on youtube and searched for the song..... it took me some minutes... but it paid off, I finally found it... and ..... when I listened it to the first time, I gulped and gulped down... my emotions, my tears at the corners of my eyes....

Many years ago, I took part in a singing competition, it was held in Casuarina Hotel, Ipoh... it was a special dinner held by my company, all the staff and their families were invited, during that time, my husband was still around. I remember him coaxing me not to enter the competition, even to the last minute, he told me not to go upstage, for fear, it might be a big embarrassment... but I didn't listen to him... I stood up, bade bye to my two kids then and went backstage to wait for my turn....

Though my face didn't show it, but I remember the fear overwhelmed me, my legs turned jelly while I was waiting for my turn... my heart beat very fast.. if at this age now, sure get heart attack one... Then when the live band music started to play the introduction, I forgot what stage fright was about, I think I was crooning away the song "Always On My Mind."

Yes, I got the First Prize....

I remember my colleague telling me that I was looking at my husband's face when I sang that song... "Did he give you the motivation?"

On the way driving back home, my husband was humming this song over and over again in the car.... I know he was very proud of me then...

That is why... the tears.... when I heard Scotty sang this song, it brought back these memories... memories of jubilation ... the memories of my husband and I... a song I will always remember...

The way he sang... touched my heart... the way he sniffed right at the end...
sigh... what else can I say.... indeed "You Are Always On My Mind"

Now on to Scotty .. I think everyone sang beautifully last night .. I had a hard time voting last night. I have not been so much into American Idol that I have been this year ... I think Steve Tyler made it what it is today .. and the performers are very good !!!

  13. Songs do make a powerful impact on us. I do hope the song brought tears of joy to you; of all the wonderful times both of you shared. "dance of my father" always pricks my heart coz Luther Vandross sang the song after my Dad's passing away.

Take care Claire. You are indeed blessed to have had such wonderful memories and your children to keep more memories churning. ^_^

An Evening Dinner At Chef Chew Kitchen, Petaling Jaya

BACK TO SG. BULOH for a couple of days.... Come evening, we went for dinner at Chef Chew Kitchen in Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya.  Since it was my first time there, I did not know what to expect except to sit back, relax and eat.  LOL... It is a one shop lot restaurant so tables are very limited.  Reservation was made at 6pm to be on the safe side, to avoid crowds and waiting for food was very minimized at this time of the day.  For the seven of us, these dishes were served on the table... Thumbs up even before the dinner...  And soon these are served...  Claypot braised ribs...  Their signature dish... Fish Maw...  First time eating fish maw which is whitish in colour...  Black Beancurd with Pumpkin sauce... Hey, this restaurant indeed serves new to me! This must be Sweet Sauce Chicken... For the American... Cos we Asians like Steamed Chicken like this!  LOL...  And the star dish of the dinner is this...  Freshly steamed and succulent prawns

Our Orders From Afghanistan, Spanish And Australia

My Final post on the Food Festival in the Victoria Market on Wednesday night.... The atmosphere at the market was "enhanced" by the cheerful songs and music by a group band... It was indeed a merry evening filled with music-licous folk songs in the air... . Ok, how to find four seats in this crowd.... hmmmm....... Somehow we managed to... and these were what my boys brought back to our table.... Mexican rice with oysters... or is it Spanish rice?   Both are the same, I guess... LOL.... Afghanistan Food.... chunks of chicken meat with naan.... Brazilian food.... don't ask me what it is.... I just ate what was on the table....  But I am amazed by this giant burger....  ..... and what burger is this? They told me it is Crocodile Tail Burger! Meat from the crocodile tail?  Is it just a name or what... I really don't know... Took a few bites of it... and I am full!! Well, these were the food we

Reunion At Museum Restaurant At Starling Mall

CLASSMATES REUNION... but not from my year.  i just tagged along with my sister who wanted my company that evening.  She was going to meet up with some of her classmates at The Starling mall.  I did not want to drive there, taking Grab is a much easier and practical choice, considering it was rush hour in the evening.  Furthermore, I am not familiar with the roads... both of us might panic on the federal highway.  LOL...  Having someone to take us there is so stress free, we only have to pay RM20 for the ride.  :)  Our first time to Startling Mall and being made familiar by one of the bloggers, Phong Hong who used to post up her lunch meals taken from there.  We were supposed to meet up at 7pm but we reached there an hour earlier to "survey" the shops and ended up buying a "bit."  Blame it on my sister who always like to give positive comments most of the time!   The dinner was held at The Museum.... Originated from Ipoh actually and how there is a branch
