CMCo No Frills Dinner For Four

CHING CHAI LAI... Hokkien lingual meaning no frills dishes... no presentation, just cook and stuff into our tummies.... LOL....

I only have to plan only for one meal, that is dinner.  And that also seems handful at times to feed 4 people.  Thinking back, our mothers used to cook for the whole household with at least minimal 6 people, right?  And that can go up to 8 people or more at most households.  No frills and yet the dishes those days could be so nice and appetizing.  Regret not learning the skills from my late mom... now I can only invent my own dish with gaping impressions!

No one has ever cooked this before... I am sure...
Ingredients: potatoes, pumpkin, long beans, okra, cherry tomatoes.... plus two eggs...
(garlic and a big onion)
And topped with crushed peanuts!
And a new dish is born.... LOL....
Add in some small chilies would be great too!
Boiled some angel hair spaghetti...
Mixed in lots of garlic, shallots and two small chilies for kick...
Oh yes, add in basil leaves too..
My son told me next time to cook more!
Fried chicken wings with potato starch to make them crunchy....
And these were for our dinner yesterday....
No frills but we were satisfied...
Haven't step on the weighing scale as yet....
LOL...

Birthday Dinner At Pekin Restaurant, Sutera Utama, Skudai

ON ONE SPECIAL EVENING, we had a scrumptious dinner at Pekin Restaurant at Sutera Mall here in Skudai.  Pekin spelt without the "g" ... I think this is the first time we came to this part of the restaurant.  The last time we came, the dinner was held by the Church of Praise.  This time it was a birthday dinner, not for one, two but three!  LOL...  Our dinner started around 8.45pm, kind of late on a Friday evening for the causeway was jammed and only managed to arrive at the restaurant around that time.  Anyway, all was well, the food came out pretty fast and by the time we finished our dinner, it was near closing time and we were one of the last customers to leave the restaurant.
At the entrance...
The Sutera Mall is at the other side of this restaurant...
Very quiet at almost 11pm....
And our scrumptious dinner for nine of us....
The Trio's Birthday....
And one to remember before we bade goodbye....
Looks like I am the "tallest" even on "tiptoes!"
LOL...

Wedding At Glo Damansara Restaurant, Petaling Jaya

ATTENDED A WEDDING DINNER AT PETALING JAYA... We drove a four hours journey to Rawang on Saturday to celebrate  my best friend's "promotion."  She has been my "buddy" since Form 1 and now she is being promoted to "Mother-in-law" ...So this dinner must attend one... no excuses!  LOL... A few of us stayed over at her house for we were given a task to be "receptionist" during the wedding dinner.  Yes, "aunties" like me were given the special job to welcome the guests, not SYT *sweet young things* but experienced elderly aunties, don't play play.. Anyway, whatever it is, we were dressed up to kill, young or old aside.   LOL...

And so...we were there before 6pm... The ballroom was beautifully decorated, photobooth at the front and fingerfood were displayed just in case, guests like us were feeling hungry while waiting.  Since we were early, we had the opportunity to take pictures and "fooled" around at the photo booth.  The photos were instant and we got a few for remembrance... Dinner started around 8.30pm and by time we reached home, it was over midnight.  A few of us stayed overnight at my friend's place and we did not get to sleep till after 2am!  The next morning, our eyes look something similar to the pandas'... LOL... Jokes aside... the wedding dinner was indeed a memorable one... so Happy for my friend!
Welcome to the Wedding!

Part of the scenerio at the entrance...
Beautiful layout of the ballroom...
The main table....
Dinner on the Go!
Vain Auntie.... me!
Happy Moments with my classmates/schoolmates!
 Empat Sekawan....
CONGRATULATIONS to my Dearest Friend & her Family!!

Homecoming Dinner At Yi Jia Restauant Taman Setia Indah, Johor

ON THE WAY BACK, WE STOPPED AT YI JIA RESTAURANT, a friend recommended the food here was not bad.  It was around 8pm when we reached and the tables inside were all occupied except for a few extra large tables.  Since there were only three of us, we opted for a smaller table outside the shop.  Service was swift and in no time, our four dishes were served almost immediately one after another.
While waiting, we flashed our smiles first...
All ever-ready for the camera...

No more smiling when the food arrived... must get ready to "attack"....
We ordered clams in soup... well, it was rather clear no doubt with a bit of herbal taste in it...
It would taste definitely better with more "wine" in it...
We wanted something clear for the fish too... so Teochiew steamed is the option...
I expected to taste some sourness in the sauce but unfortunately, it was not there...
My son saw this picture in the menu book and so here it was on the table later...
No complaints about this...
Deep Fried Yam Rings with Pork Ribs...
This dish was well received though the price was otherwise...
RM54 for this dish was rather steep, I think....
Four dishes for the three of us....
Dishes were rather small so everything was finished in no time...
Total cost for our dinner came to around RM160...
*Gaping mouth*
hahahahaa...

Where Am I in 2025

9 MONTHS!  I have been away from this blog for so long... (I thought it was more than a year)  So much have happened and I do not know where...
