First Visit At Yummy Food Garden, Falim, Ipoh

YUMMY IN MY TUMMY....

Out from my house already by 8.30am, we trio went to try the food at a factory turned into a food court in Falim.  From the outside, it is just like any other factory. If my friend did not tell me, I wouldn't know it has a public food court in the factory premises itself and the it is called Yummy Food Court.

Oh, I should have taken some pictures, this is my failure, I am more on the food than the surroundings!  I guess I have to go again some day....

According to my friend, there are more stalls when it first opened two or three years ago.  He was surprised to see that many stalls are now closed, must be due to the MCO in 2020.  Anyway, my intention is to try out the Doris curry puffs which I have seen a lot of people post up in Facebook and they are sold out fast, I heard...
I saw the stall upon entering...
Quickly I walked over to see what they sell...
Saw that the curry puffs were done there and then...
Cost RM2.70 each and still warm when served...
Still crunchy upon biting....
A bit too spicy for me....
Fillings more on onions...
Other than that, I could say... the taste is not bad la...
Maybe I was expecting more potatoes or some visible meat at least...
From the same stall, I ordered a plate of Chee Cheong Fun...
It cost RM4.50....
Next time I might try the curry gravy with pork skin...
Char Koay Teow for RM6...
And a bowl of Prawn noodles also RM6....
Looks good but my friend told me it is so-so only....
Anyway, there are other stalls which we have not tried...
We might go there again... but not-so-soon...

No More So Called Economical Food

WOKE UP LATE THIS MORNING.... So ended up having oats as breakfast and for lunch, I went to Farlim with two of my friends.  We had something really simple, no frills and fancies.  Supposedly to be very "economical" and they are actually called "economy food" during my younger days, but... alas, nothing is economical anymore these days.  Nevertheless, I still yearn for this type of food, it brings back good old memories from the younger days!

This shop is situated in Farlim, Menglembu, half an hour away from my house and it only opens at 11am for brunch and lunch.  Thanks to my friend, she just gave me the name of the shop, it is called A1 Phang Leng and the address is Laluan Perusahaan Menglembu 2, Kawasan Perusahaan Menglembu.... and we ordered these for our eating pleasure. :)

Patrons at noon...
A plate of vegetarian noodles... RM2.20 each...
We ordered 2 plates....
7 pieces of crispy stuff to share.....
3 bowls of Red beans sweet desserts...
A bowl of peanuts porridge....
Freshly fried sesame balls.... RM1.20 for each...
All in all, our bill came to RM21.60...
For this amount, each person is RM7...
No more so-called economical food, right!  :)

Authentic Food At Pin Sum, Menglembu

ANDY TOLD ME THAT HE WANTED TO TRY ALL FOOD IN IPOH... especially those I posted up in my previous posts.  LOL.... Great, try eating all within ONE week, I said..  LOL...  And so from Day One till today, we have been eating outside food.  Unhealthy and fattening though, but never mind, once back to Johor, we "try" to eat healthy again, homecooked food and baby oats will be our meals.  *hearsay first*

This morning we started out at around 10.30am and we went to old town to visit Concubine street.  My sons have never been there, we thought the tourists would be gone by now but we were wrong.  The whole area leading to the tourist spots were jammed up and we had no choice but to detour to somewhere out from Ipoh town.  We went all the way to Jelapang for noodles but the shop was closed.  We took a big round again and landed in Pin Sum restaurant in Menglembu.  It was a good choice after all.... everyone was happy with the food here especially Andy!
While waiting for the main course to be served, we had these as appetizers....

The famous noodles in this shop called Sam Si Mee...
*three ingredients* mainly from dried oyster, mushrooms and dried cuttlefish....
We also ordered flat noodles in egg gravy...
Also known as Wat Tan Hor...
Some side dishes to go with the noodles....
Six bacon wraps....
Our first meal of the day....

Someone is taking the pictures to "lure" somebody down south....
Definitely a Thumbs UP from both of them!

The Tens At East Ocean Restaurant, Menglembu

TWO DAYS UPON RETURNING TO IPOH, I had another scrumptious dinner with my group of ex-classmates!  It was a Get-Together again for the ten of us, good company, great food to enhance the meet-up at East Ocean Restaurant in Menglembu.

We ordered something spectacular this time, thinking that one dish would be enough to go with rice but we were wrong.  The pot of treasure was not enough to feed the ten of us, I guess we were still at a "growing age" where our appetite were at full blast.  LOL.... Never mind our figures, we just wanted more and more to fill our tummies....
The Pot of Treasures aka Poon Choy pre-ordered few days in advance...

The last time I ate this was several years ago at the same restaurant....
Everything seems to be the same except for the Price which has soared up...
Each has a fair share of the goodies on top...
Beneath the goodies are the sea cucumber, mushrooms and some meat....
Nothing really spectacular for the price of RM468...
Another plate of greens with crab meat gravy....
Added one more plate of fried Sang Mee and all of us love the "fragrant" taste of it...
The pudding is not to be missed as well...
This time the pudding was made from Cempedak aka Jackfruit...
A delightful dessert which cannot go wrong...
Total cost RM605...
Who says IPOH food is still cheap?
Next time we know what to order and what's not... LOL....
and now  presenting the Golden Girls...
The Tens.... when one dish was served...
The Five-s when second dish was served...
And The Tens.. when desserts were served....
Lastly... The Ten-s before saying goodnight....
Next round... November!!

Birthday Celebration At East Ocean, Menglembu

SOMEHOW THIS POST SLIPPED THROUGH MY FINGERS... cos this birthday happened before the previous one on promotion.

With the group apps, it is so much easier to plan and update one another.  During my yesteryears, how did we contact one another to celebrate something?  I think it is through word by mouth or the black phone in the house.  But then not everyone has a black phone in the house those days.  I am talking about the years back in the 70s.... hahahahaa...  Ok, never mind the past... it happened so long ago and I could not remember much at my age now.

Coming back to my topic, the eight of us met up in East Ocean Restaurant in Menglembu to celebrate one of my ex-classmates' birthday.  One by one each of us have reached one digit higher than the rest though we were born of the same year.  Mine is still a couple of months away... *hint hint* No worries, by the time it is my turn, I will yell out LOUD!
Started off with a bowl of soup minus the shark fins...
Instead they put in misua to replace...
Very tasty surprisingly!
This one came in first.... I remember cos it is my favourite dish...
Steamed Yam with dried shrimps as toppings!
Then all the dishes came in at one shot...
Garoupa in spring onions and ginger...
Kailan with the soft type of fungus...
Mixed vegetables...
Well, I guess we are pretty conscious on our food... mostly veg!
Followed by Buttered Prawns in curry leaves...
And lastly, Lemon Fried chicken...
For desserts, we have their signature pudding... RM3 each...

We had two types of Cakes....
The Yam Cake ...
And the Buttered Cup Cakes by Nancy Chong... each cost RM3 for a mini-sized cup...
And that is our Birthday Girl for the evening....
So... who will be the Next one in line?
September is coming soon!
Oh, about the bill, it came to around RM300 over...

My Lady Boss's Treat At Pin Sum, Menglembu

DURING THE DAY, I NORMALLY GO BREAKFAST, BRUNCH OR LUNCH with my group of friends and at the same time, catching up with them on life updates.  I need my "battery charge" especially on the first meal, something heavy in the day and lighter in the evening.  But most of the time I end up taking two full meals per day, heavy more than light.... hahahaa...

On this particular day, it was almost 1pm when I went out for my first meal... I had some oats in the morning so I postponed my solid meal till lunch.  Thank goodness my two foodie friends were free to take lunch with me when I called them up.... From my place, it took me a fifteen minutes drive to pick them up and another fifteen minutes to reach Pin Sum in Menglembu....

We came at the peak time...
Almost every table was occupied except for the last one reserved for us behind...
As I am the one most hungry, I did the ordering...
Ordered their signature dish... *Sam See Mee*
Three types of stripes as translated...
The mushroom, dried sotong and meat stripes...
Something different and it is very tasty...
Fried meehoon and it seems the ingredients covers most the the noodles....
This is also their specialty.... "Yong Liew"
Actually I ordered six but came out ten...
Maybe that is the minimum order...
For the three of us, these were just sufficient... no more no less....
The cost came to around RM29 and it should be my treat since I am the one who invite...
But my friend wanted to be the Boss... so I let her..
Thank you Boss...
hahahahaa...

Eating In Menglembu And Shopping At AEON Big, Farlim

A DAY OF HAVING BRUNCH AND SHOPPING WITH MY OLD TIME BUDDY... yes, we were buddies from our schooling days... we have gone through shining and raining days together, together we friend, united we stand... hahahaa...

One fine morning we had brunch in Ma Chai Menglembu, I have not tasted their Chee Cheong Fun for quite some time.  One has to be very adventurous when it come to ordering CCF... there is a wide selection displayed for us to choose from as toppings.
Of the many dishes, I opted for sotong as my CCF toppings besides the normal sauce...
Unhealthy it may seems to be... but once a blue moon, should be alright, right?\
My plate of CCF cost RM4.80
My friend is even more adventurous, she opted for stinky beans and egg plants on her CCF..
Not sure how much her plate cost... cos she added three fried chicken as well... to take home la!

After our tummies were filled, we had another place to go...
Yes, AEON BIG in Farlim....
Just had to lose some calories after the heavy meal of CCF...

Upon entering, these CROCS caught our eyes...
We have been surveying a number of CROCS shops for some nice sandals...
But CROCS being CROCS, their fashion and colours are quite "outstanding"
Firstly we asked about the promotion and pricings...
In this shop, we can get two pairs for RM199!
Wow... the best we had surveyed so far....
Normally others would offer one pair original price and 50% on the second pair...
Since it now cost RM199 for two pairs, we quickly choose our own pair....
I have not worn CROCS before.... and this is my first pair of CROCS...
Oh.. I did not choose this actually... my friend did... she wanted this style..
I opted for another one which I did not take a picture...
So far, I did not wear it yet.. too flat for me...
I am used to having at least one inch higher..
hehehee...
My Buddy and I...
Eating and Shopping Best!!
