Kim's Dakgalbi Korean Food New In Ipoh

A night of mingling with the Korean family and their exotic meal....yes, I was invited to a preview of Korean food by my classmate.  She invited a few of us to try out the Korean food in this restaurant owned by a Korean couple and her family.
The name of the restaurant... Kim's Dakgalbi meaning Chicken BBQ
It is situated along  Jalan Medan Ipoh 1B, Medan Ipoh Bistari, Ipoh
The tables and the equipment were imported directly from Korea....
We were served by the Korean couple themselves....
We were their first customers before the shop is even opened....
This is how it goes......
First dish with the vegetables and chicken meat....
After one round, they added noodles....
When that was finished, the rice was next!!
Imagine how "bloated" our stomach was then.... LOL....
But worry not, the condiments here is to neutralize what we had eaten....
All these while, husband and wife team entertained us with their Korean slant and dialogue...
And I learn a new word... Hadi.. hadi...
Next comes the soup!
Healthy food.. oil-less soup....
OH OH..... anyone loves these????
My friends just popped one after another into their mouth.... hmmmmm....
This is nice...
Korean rice wine (if I didn't get it wrong)
Hadi me please!
One picture to remember our Korean Dinner Gathering!
I learn a new Korean word from the little girl that evening...
She kept calling me to "Hadi" her.....
And now I have numerous pictures of this cute little girl...
So... anyone can guess what "Hadi" means???
LOL....

DAORAE Korean BBQ In IPOH

If you ask me to choose between Korean and Chinese dishes, I will surely opt for the latter... but when I asked my kids which they rather prefer, they opt for the Korean food in One Voice simultaneously!  I shall call this Our Generation Gap....

Two versus One.... so we ended up in DAORAE Korean BBQ in De Gardens, Ipoh.  I haven't been there before and I am amazed by their comfortable settings and ambience... one setback though...

There are two type of settings, those who opt for the normal table and chair will have to sit "outside" and the younger ones, I am sure they prefer the setting without chairs but with a "Big Hole" in the middle for you to put our legs.... (if you know what I mean)

There we are... without chairbacks...
the silver thing is an exhaust chute to "vacuum" out the smoke...
the smoke-less charcoals...
prime ribs...
(we don't have to lift a hand to do that,
the cooking done by the waiters)
bottomless sidedishes..
my son asked for the pancakes many times.. Gosh!
table full...
fried rice with beef....
this one...er... steamboat kimchi with mixed varieties...
Overall, the Korean meal is not really for me...
I don't really enjoyed eating these..
(maybe my teeth were aching due to too much chewing!)
Don't ask me about the price..
It was just wayyyyyy too high for me! LOL...
For that price, I can have a Super Nice Chinese Dinner!!

(Yes, yes... I guess I am not Up and Trendy!)
LOL......

Olympic Park

Rewind.... drrrr..... drr.......rewind.... back to December 2010...

When we reached Seoul late in the night, we passed by this Olympic Park. It was almost 11pm, but Andy and Aaron were adamant on going to the park on their own that very night. Something spectacular, so they said... they wouldn't want to miss that cos the very next day, we know we would not have the chance to go there.

So both of them walked over to the Olympic Park which was ten minutes walk from our hotel called Olympic Park Hotel, which was specially built for the olympics few years back. These were some of the pictures they captured while they were there...

Olympic Park in Seoul

frozen smile.. hahaha...

both of them fought against the cold weather
to take some pictures...

Both came back to the hotel shivering
but feeling very satisfied...
Mission Accomplished! :)

The Roundup Pictures Of Korea

My roundup pictures for our Korea trip... too many posts on Korea will be a turn-off for some of you, perhaps.. hahhaaa....

Just now we watched the video tape that Andy took during the trip and we had a good laugh over it. Most of the time he taped himself, eating... walking... making his facial expressions on the tape. Taking video can be fun but after one time watching, it is more than enough... until maybe few years later, we will take it out to watch once again....

Ok, for the roundup... here are some pictures on the last two days....

Kyongbok Palace And National Folk Museum

Early in the morning after breakfast we were ushered up the bus to visit the Kyongbok Palace which was built in 1394 and known as the largest palace during the Joseon Dynasty. (How I know?? The itinerary is in front of me.. hehe... )

I think this was the place that got me "chilled" up to the bone... my fault.. I didn't wear enough warm clothings... pity Andy too!!! His ears was "frozen" according to him... lol....

the entrance... I think...

Andy and I... we were like "frozen"

hiding behind the walls...
just look at Andy.. poor kid!!

we were looking for shelters..

but seems everywhere is vast area....

so cold that Andy hid behind the door...

and when he was warm enough, he stood guard.. LOL...

While we were at the National Folk Museum...

Andy promised me the moon...
and he tried his best to carry it back..
here is a picture to prove it....

On the way out...
Andy suddenly exclaimed.."hey, an I-Pad!!"

then he started to "log in"......
unfortunately, no WIFI around.. LOL...

anyway..... this is National Folklore Museum.. :)

one for the album
before we proceed to Dangdaemum Market
a major shopping district
where we shopped till we nearly dropped..
