Ipoh Hainan Chicken Rice

IPOH... Back to where I belong after being away for few months....

Spent a few days trying to settle my "mind" back to the current time, have been waking up at odd hours during the night to watch TV and then dozing off again during the early dawn... During the day, I felt like a zombie and did not have much appetite.  My sister followed me back this time and we had each other to keep company with during these "jetlag" moments.

Anyway, we become "normal" again and spent the first few days in Ipoh hunting food and cravings.  There is this place which I have not been before, near the Desserts street... oh dear, I forgot to see the actual name of the restaurant.  My bad.. I tried googling for it but to no avail.  Will try to pass by the shop again to get the name one of these days.....
We had half a chicken for the three of us....
Glass chicken feet... direct translation from Cantonese....
Long time I did not eat these...
Sweet, sourish and spicy due to the chillies...

And fried eggplants which was done perfectly...
Tasted like banana fritters.. LOL...
Nice lunch which cost around RM70 for the 3 of us...
And the jet-lag faces then....
*Now I am back to normal*

Our Fusion Set Lunches In Sacramento

PACKING UP...  After the one week vacation in Utah, it was time for me to go home, back to my own tropical country after being away for more than four months....

During the last week stay in Sacramento, we still shopped to the very last day, squeezed everything into our four big bags and weighed endless times to make sure that they were not over 23kg.  What did I buy?  I really made a mistake this time.  I fell in love with a Quilt and bought it without thinking of the luggage.  The quilt occupied one big section of it and not only that, it was not "light" at all.  Couldn't refund it cos I misplaced the receipt.... no choice, I carried it home with me...

Before leaving, we took outside food.... a fusion of this and that.....
Western food....
Bottomless buns served first....
Followed by my sandwich...
Which comes with thick tomato soup which I have learn to enjoy during these 4 months....
Commander had steak...and not sure what the other one is...
Club sandwiches for my sister...
And a warm loaf of carrot cake for $3 for desserts....
On another day we had Korean bento set...
Cost only $10 per set...
Each of us ordered one set lunch and we could eat the remainder for dinner too!
Lastly and not least, we had another set lunch at Rice Bowl Restaurant...
This set comes with soup and desserts... cost $28.90....
Happy Smiles before digging in!
Bye Sacramento, till we meet again.... soon!!

Beautiful Online Dresses

Just not too long ago, I heard that many of my friends started on online shopping, I was very curious about it.  Everything is made so easy, according to them.  They do their groceries, food delivery, shopping for clothing, any sizes is available and that even includes plus size prom dresses.  How about that!

Nowadays the weather here is so fiery hot and I do not like to drive out to the shopping malls in this weather.  So when I heard about shopping online is so convenient and easy, I gave it a try.  And once I did, there was no turning back.  Online shopping has become one of my hobbies especially during weekends when there is more discounts and sales.  There is so much to browse on and not only that, I can save my money cos I really take a few hours to get the best sales ever!

Alright, I have been searching online for some nice looking evening dresses, like prom dresses with sleeves to cover my big arms and I found them!  The dresses here look exclusive on the models and I hope they look nice on me too? For me, I think it is safer to go for those dresses that are not too figure hugging or else the bulges will show. Shopping can be fun when one is slim and slender because we can easily fit into any designs and look great in them.

There is a wide selection of beautiful elegant and sexy lace dresses yet lovely evening gowns to meet everyone's needs. From the wide range of ball dresses, prom dresses, formal dress and evening dresses, there is something to suit individual's taste. As for me, I am eyeing some red prom dresses.  Red is my favourite color.  These dresses are claimed to be of good quality materials too.

For those who have a special function to attend and have not found any suitable dress to wear, you can try looking up some of these lovely and mermaid dresses here.  With just a few clicks away, you might find something that suits your taste and you might even get a good discount for it.  Enjoy your shopping!

We Walked On The Sea In Bonneville Salt Flats

ITS A LONG LONG JOURNEY.....  I thought Las Vegas was the longest drive I had ever taken in my own life... but no, Utah broke my record.  I could not keep count of the hours, too many... we reached Sacramento after more than 12 hours or was it 14??  Of course, we stopped many times along the way.... seniors like us need to rest our weary mind and straighten cramped legs every hour or so.  LOL...

I don't think we would be coming this way again for many years to come.... if there is an opportunity, I would love to come during winter, it would be a totally different scenario...

Before we exit the city, we had to stop at one of the attraction spot called Bonneville... Something very rare and spectacular cos it is filled with salt... Sea of Salt... Looks like snow in summer and walking on the sea of salt, I had to be very careful with my steps.  I only stayed near the banks but our Commander was very brave, he walked far far away from where we stood....
Have to be careful with our sneakers or slippers..
I wore slippers cos we need to walk off the salt...
Unless we need a new pair of shoes later on!
Here is what I extracted from Mr. G.
Wind and water combine to create the flat surface of salt. Each winter, a shallow layer of standing water floods the surface of the salt flats. During spring and summer, the water slowly evaporates while winds smooth the surface into a vast, nearly perfectly flat plain.
Looks like snow from here...
From where I stood...
Tourists are fascinated... like me..
Our Commander walking off to the middle... of nowhere...
*terrified me*

We feel safer at the banks....
Indeed much much safer... I could do all poses here....
Bye Utah!!
finally.....

Our Last Evening At Back 40 Ranch House, Heber City, Utah

LAST EVENING....

It was our last evening at the Marriots and we had our dinner at the Back 40 Ranch House....
Now looking back at my album, I couldn't find any of our dinner pictures inside...
Very strange!  Did I really not take any of the food pics?
Sounds unbelievable from me, right?
This adds to one of the peculiarities we experienced during our 7 days stay here...
I "might" relate in my post later on...
But then if I did, would I get sued??
Leaving that aside, here is the inside of the Ranch House...
The scenery from the window is so lovely....
Just like a painting!
After the dinner, we did some "exploration"....
We walked on the way in... yes, by foot...
Burn our calories, as I told them...
I can walk here each evening gazing into the meadows...
As we strolled along... this is what we saw....
Ranch life...
We made "friends" with the ponies....
Or at least he did....

The three wannabees... to feel young again!
That is all for this evening!
Back to the hotel to pack our bags.... for the long journey home the next morning!

A Visit To Utah Olympic Park

SKI TRAINING.... looking at the skiers skiing down from that height gives me the thrills!  Really have to admire their guts, not easy now that I see them for real.  Certainly an eye opener for me....
We came by to visit the US Olympic Training site for skiers....
Good place to visit especially those into skiing...

Skiers getting ready... up and up they went...
Now I spot one of them.... and took some videos....

Certainly one of the spotlight in Utah not to be missed....
A real sunny day for practice...  and to take pictures!

How to Find Restaurants You’ll Love When Traveling

I don’t know about you, but for me, one of the must-dos in the travel bucket list is indulging in both the local cuisines and your own set of comfort foods. Of course, eating is a basic need, but it’s special when you’re out of the country. Food trip is always a phrase that’s connected with travel. Travel is never complete without trying out the local restaurants.
Ironically, the must-include food tripping can sometimes turn into a horror story—an inevitable part of traveling. Food poisoning, bad customer service, facilities that lack proper sanitation and weird flavors you can’t take are just some of the ugly experiences when you happen to enter the wrong restaurant. Well, even in our own hometown, we fell victims to awful restaurants. What more in other countries we’ve never been?
But this shouldn’t worry you. There are foolproof ways you can do to avoid this stressful situation.

Check Out Food-related Websites and Apps
These days, you’ll find many websites and applications that are designed in providing valuable information about restaurants in a particular city. Examples of information you can get are the menu, prices, directions and reviews from previous customers. With just a click, you can have access to these and more, even the macro shots of the dishes you’ll drool over.
When you’re out and about and you have difficulty deciding where to eat, all you have to do is to google “restaurants near me” and several results within or near your current location will show up. Then, check the reputation of these restaurants through a reliable app like Foodporn. Why is it a good option anyway? Foodporn has been around for decades, since the year 1997 to be exact.  Don’t forget to visit it to check the best deals as well as a particular restaurant’s reputation.

Go Directly to the Source—The Locals
Of course, if there’s anyone who knows better than you about all the good eats downtown, those are the people living there. They’re the ones who already probably had a firsthand experience of dining in those places. Thus, they’re more credible to tell you where to get the best pizza in town or the best seafood. Really, the locals are the living Google. So, be sure to check out their suggestions especially if you run out of mobile data or if you don’t have wi-fi access.
The locals are also the best source if you have questions about the delicacies native in that town. They know how it should taste like, the exact consistency, the appearance and more things like these. Thus, you’ll get a better idea on what an authentic experience should be.

See Where the Crowds Go
While taste is subjective, you’ll usually never go wrong if you follow the crowd to where they line up. Why would they endure the long queues anyway if the food isn’t worth it? Perhaps, it’s really worth the try. You may even ask the one who’s standing next to you what’s in that restaurant that people are willing to wait this long. You might learn something interesting from that conversation.

Read Guidebooks, Travel Magazines and Blogs
Writers of these publications put in effort to maintain the credibility and reputation of their publication’s name. So, they make sure that their content is always authoritative and useful to their target readers. They do so by doing extensive research about the place in question, getting a firsthand experience of a restaurant’s menu, interviewing qualified sources and comparing other options available.
Before you travel to somewhere unfamiliar, do as much research as you can—yes, even about the food. You don’t know what you’ll come across later. Some tourists have been victims of food poisoning just because they didn’t do enough research on where to get a safe food to eat and water to drink. Read here to learn how you can prevent it.
So, always ask around. Read as many travel magazines, blogs and guidebooks as you can. After all, a bad-tasting food can be chalked up to experience. But you surely wouldn’t want to experience food poisoning in another place as much as possible!

Can you think of some other foolproof food tripping hacks? Do share with us!

Where Am I in 2025

9 MONTHS!  I have been away from this blog for so long... (I thought it was more than a year)  So much have happened and I do not know where...
