A Real Italian Lunch At Espanol

ITALIAN FOR ONCE...

One fine afternoon our Boss took us for lunch, this time it was Italian food at Espanol Italian Restaurant at East Sacramento.  This is my first time to this place and first time drinking cocktails too while having our big portions of lunch set.

Espanol Italian is a homey institution featuring traditional Italian dishes and drinking cocktails in an old-fashioned dining room.  We ordered a lunch set, it is 4-course family style lunch served with a bowl of soup, salad, followed by a main meal and ends with either coffee, ice tea and ice cream.
It was a Tuesday when we went there for our lunch...
Upon entering....
Started off with pasta and tomato soup....
Big servings... I managed to finish it all though...

Hot sour dough bread servings is endless...
Salami salad...
I could finish only half... share, share please.....
Our main meal is Turkey with stuffings... mashed potatoes and cranberries jam....
Turkey special on Tuesdays....
And spaghetti with meat balls....
And Spumoni for desserts!
Our Italian Lunch at Espanol...
A real Italian treat....
We went home feeling tipsy after the red wine....
Not our fault, Boss...
No work for the rest of the afternoon...
Siesta time!!

Looking Green At Lowes

HOME FOR THE GREENS...

I am no green finger but I think I have been to nurseries here in Sacramento more than in my own hometown, Ipoh.  Since we have lots to plant and grow here in this fertile state, the only store which supplies everything about gardening and home, Lowe's is the place to go.  Lowe's for pro-s... but I am no pro... I just go there to take pictures!  LOL... And of course, to admire the plants and to know more about the home improvement appliances.  There are so much stuff which I do not know about for our own homes.  I wish I could buy and carry some home but it is just impossible.  So... the only thing I could do is to visit the store every now and then, and of course, to help carry around pushing the trolley and loading them into the van.  LOL...

After all the poses, it is time to carry our few hundreds bucks of stuff home...
That is the "heavy part!"
LOL...

Ways to Improve Your Kitchen

Your kitchen might be older and in need of a serious makeover. If this is the case, there are a large number of ways you can choose to go about doing this. It all depends on your particular tastes regarding interior design. The amount of money you can afford to spend will also play into it. Make an honest appraisal of your current kitchen. What should stay and what needs to go? You can then begin to formulate a plan to make the kitchen you have always dreamed of. Here are a few ideas that will help to get you started.

1. Have new tiles installed.

Tiles are an important part of the overall design scheme of any kitchen. Many kitchen floors are made of tiles. You can also commonly find tiles on the walls of kitchens next to counters. These tiles can become faded and cracked over the years because they are located in high traffic areas where many people walk on a regular basis. Wall tiles can often experience damage from heat because they are located in close proximity to a stove or an oven. Replacing these tiles can give your kitchen an entirely new look that makes it a place you want to spend time in again.

2. Install new cabinets.

You might need new cabinets for a variety of reasons. The old cabinets you have in your kitchen might have started to show signs of wear and tear. Perhaps the hinges of the cabinet doors have become worn out. The outside of the doors have become scratched or discolored. You might need larger cabinets because your family has grown over the years. You need more space to store all of the additional food that you buy every week. You might have also bought a pet and you need a place to store its toys and food. Whatever the case may be, there is a huge selection of cabinetry on the market. You can choose from some of the top manufacturers like Cherry Hill cabinetry and others. Just be sure that the company you buy your cabinets from will also install them for you.

3. Buy a new kitchen appliance that you have needed for a long time.

You might be sick and tired of washing your dishes in your sink every time you eat a meal. Buying a dishwashing machine would be a permanent solution to this problem. You should do some research to find out which brands are considered to be the best. Do not buy a dishwasher unless it comes with a substantial warranty from the manufacturer. A warranty will allow you to buy the machine with complete confidence.  Another important item one must have in the kitchen is cookware and the accompanying utensils.  Nowadays people look for practicality and functional products when it comes to cooking.  Before you purchase any of these, do check out these stainless steel cookware reviews, you will be most surprised to get the best deals out here.  Decent stainless-steel cookware is an investment, makes life easier and most important, the prices are reasonably cheap and within your budget!

Remove link "stainless steel cookware reviews" in paragraph 4 and link from word "here" of the same sentence --- Before you purchase any of these, do check out these stainless steel cookware reviews, you will be most surprised to get the best deals.

How to Reduce Spending When Working from Home

When thinking about the cost benefits and detriments of working at home instead of in an office with a manager and other employees, the first thing that comes to mind is the money saved on not having to commute to work.

There is certainly something to be said for the time (possibly up to two hours in traffic) saved, as well as money on gas or public transportation saved by working from a home office. A certain efficiency can be found in working at home that cannot be achieved elsewhere.

On the other hand, though, working from home can be dangerous to an individuals bank account for several unexpected reasons. These unanticipated costs can easily be preempted and cut down.

Below are some helpful ideas on how to reduce spending and to live more affordably while working from home.

1.      All Day Grazing

One of the biggest pitfalls of individuals working from a home office is that they have all their food and beverages within arms reach. They are also not being closely monitored, so running out quickly to grab a coffee or fast food is simple.

Working in an office means some type of routine, whether it means packing a lunch from home or eating at the same lunch place during designated lunch breaks every day. Eating at home, however, is a complete free-for-all. Employees who work at home can quickly fall subject to constantly having a snack in their hand, prompting them to quickly run out of food and buy more. At that point, they might then begin to plan for this “all day grazing” and start to purchase more snack foods to munch on throughout the day.

This ultimately leads to more and more spending on unnecessary snack foods to get through the workday. One way to cut down on this is to continue to keep a designated lunch hour during the day. This way, the temptation may arise to grab a snack from the kitchen, but the snacks will not be touched until the designated lunch hour. This may be difficult to commit to at first, but over time it will get easier and easier to adhere to a typical work-day routine despite the lack of an overseer or manager on site.

2.      Utility Cost

Despite the decrease in transportation costs to commute to and from work, there must now be added the cost of heating or cooling a home throughout the day. As the home is occupied constantly, rather than dormant during the work day, heat and cooling costs can rise, as can electricity. Using technology all day for work including the computer, phone, lights, and possibly a printer or scanner can cause the electricity bill to skyrocket.

There are a few simple ways to cut down on these costs. The first is to utilize blankets and dress for cold weather to cut down on the heating bill. Brewing a cup of warm tea can be a great way to stay warm without blasting the heat.

This is the same with the air conditioning. Opening a window to let a little breeze through, or utilizing a fan can save an incredible amount of money on the air conditioning bill. Preparing cold beverages like lemonade or iced tea can also help to stay cool in the hot weather.

One way to save money on electricity is to, whenever possible, charge up devices in a public place like a library or coffee shop. Electricity used to light the house can also be lessened to save money by setting up the work area in a room with a lot of natural light. If such a room is not available, focusing the light so that fewer switches have to be on to light up the space is an efficient way to significantly decrease the amount of money spent on an electricity bill.

3.      Communication

One benefit that employees who work in an office receive is the access to technology and the ability to speak in person with coworkers. When working from home, it is sometimes necessary (in order to share information or speak with coworkers or clients) to meet in person.

In order to save on transportation and wardrobe costs, utilizing free programs like Google Docs, Drop Box, and Skype can increase and streamline communication so that conversations can be had in the most efficient, effective way possible. No time or money is wasted on a commute, and information can be delivered quickly and efficiently.

Sometimes more expensive programs can also cut costs over time on communication and can convey a level of professionalism beyond what these free programs do. For work-from-home employees or those working on startups, they should perhaps consider how a personal loan could help them afford systems that may cost a lot up front, but which will save them money over time. Reading some reviews, like an Avant personal loans review, can assist at-home employees and self-employed individuals in finding the right loan to help them spruce up their home office.

Birthday Celebration At OZ Korean BBQ Elk Grove

BIRTHDAY DINNER....

It was a Big Day for my nephew and he requested Korean BBQ for dinner.  His favourite Korean place is at The OZ Elk Grove, basically the reason is that they serve endless plates of meat provided that they are finished and not wasted.  Yes, it is kind of a buffet style and we can just order the food from their menu.  And for someone who celebrates their birthday there, they will be serenaded with a birthday song by the staff and presented with a cake for and a free drink on the house.  Oh, the cake is "fake"... just for the birthday guy to blow the candle out only... LOL... Of course, my nephew did not want any "outstanding" ovation... however....
This is the place at the entrance...
And we waited for the birthday boy to arrive....
While waiting to be seated... as usual... we must have these...
For dinner buffet, it cost around $23.99 per pax...
Comes with 2 appetizers, 3 protein grills and vegetables...
*endless orders provided all are eaten and cleared*
House salad, side dishes and rice are included....
And the cooking began....
Calamari, beef, chicken, prawns, prime ribs....
And he likes to do all the cooking and serving us....
Melon Margarita for me...
And half way through the dinner...
Happy Birthday to you... x4....

3 Things You Have to Do in Toulouse This Summer

Paris is great and all that, but there is so much more to France than eating meringues and gazing up at the Eiffel Tower. Head off to the Southwest region instead and rediscover your love for wine, beautiful architecture and friendly locals; Toulouse in the summer is everything you could wish for and more.

Here is a handful of great tips on what to do and where to go while you’re there so that you don’t miss out on anything that the town has to offer.

Visit the best wine bar in the world

First things first; Toulouse is, no matter what Bordeaux has to say, the best place to visit if you’re looking for great wine. Sure, you’ll find excellent wine all over the world - but it’s not every city that can brag about being titled ‘Best wine bar in the world’ by Glass Wine List in 2017.

Make sure you head to Le Wine Bar, specifically, if you’d like to scratch this one off your bucket list as well. It has over 3000 referenced wines, by the way, so it should be enough to quench your thirst for a while.

Look at its marvellous architecture

The pink city, or La Ville Rose, is named so after its recognisable red-brick facade found across the town. Walk through its streets and remember to look up once in a while to take in the different shades of red and pink that these buildings give off, depending on the hour of the day as the sun sets. Luckily for us, Toulouse has kept much of its townhouses which dates back to when the city was quite prosperous.

If you’re looking for great architecture, you should absolutely pay a visit to Place du Capitole - although it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to avoid it if you spend even a short day in Toulouse. Check in at Courtyard Toulouse Airport if you’re only staying a short while, by the way, and you’ll be close enough to see everything before it’s time to go.

With its brick facade, it’s probably the most known building they have and you’ll want to check out the square court on the inside as well and explore all of the rooms.

Walk in its beautiful gardens

Nature lovers all over the world trek to Toulouse to discover all of its gardens. Quiet, picturesque and romantic - these gardens are just ideal for nature lovers. The Jardin des Plantes is an excellent choice if you’re looking for somewhere that’s a bit quiet and away from the noise of playing children.

If you’re looking for the latter, probably because you have children who would like to make some noise, you should head off to the Jardin de Compans Caffarelli as they have a great playground where you can let them roam freely.

No matter where you go, you’ll be able to find somewhere quiet, serene and perfectly French. It can get fantastically warm in the middle of summer, though, so you might find that a lot of the locals flee to cooler parts of the country. It just means more space for you and you’ll avoid those swarms of people that we usually have to deal with while on holiday.
