Living Through the Loss of Someone We Love...

FEELING sentimental today... something came to my mind and I want to share this here...

FEW months ago, one of my ex-colleague's husband passed away late at night due to a heart attack...he was in his early 50s and my colleague is only in her early 40s...they have 2 kids, both in their early teens..

After few weeks of his demise, I called her up to talk to her and invited her to come out for a drink. She sounded happy to hear from me, knowing now, we are both more or less in the same boat...

Both of us had a pour-it-out talk together...she asked me numerous questions and vice versa... and there was one part that I remember her telling me..that is... She felt bad each time she reminded her kids that their father is not around anymore, she wanted them to feel the loss as much as she does....

When I heard that, I felt sad too, for her and for her kids..... I feel eventhough the father is not around anymore, we as mothers, should keep the family together and allow our kids to grow up as happily as we can, just like any other normal families do...i know the kids grieve too but we as adults have to help them to overcome that grief and not to deprive them of our love, with or without their fathers around....

So I told her what I think....we are adults, we grieve for our loss...but on the other side, we must live and let live too...especially with kids around us, we have a duty ... we help them them to grow up enjoying and going through their lives as happy and normal like anyone else.... the memories our husbands/their fathers will always be embedded in our hearts forever....

This verse in the Bible stays true to me since 1997...

Romans 8:28 All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose
