Yes, Yes, I need some suggestions!!
Last night I spent few hours surfing for hotels in Singapore. My son suggested YMCA in Orchard road but it was full during the school holidays! Not Singapore school hols but Malaysia... how come we Malaysians love to go Singapore so much? Their currency is so high, nearly RM2.40 to $1 Sg! And yet.....
I don't want to spend a lot on lodging, came across Grand Central hotel in 22 Cavenagh Road / Orchard Road, seems to be walking distance along all the shopping complex. Yo! Talking about shopping, everything must be multiply by 2.4 times... so I better tell my girl that, huh...
Ok, back to this hotel, the rate is RM379 per night inclusive of 2 breakfast... cheap or not? I think that is the cheapest I can find along Orchard Road...
Anyone stayed in this Grand Central before? Any other suggestions? Please do share.. thanks!

My brother and his wife managed to find a budget hotel along Orchard Road which is charging RM250 per night. Will try to get the name of the hotel a.s.a.pReplyDelete
ok lah, when u decided to go for a trip, try not kira so much with the cost. I believe you had done with the budget so just try to enjoy during the trip :)ReplyDelete
Came over from Irene's blog and saw this post. You could try http://www.tripadvisor.com. I always use this whenever I travel. The website allows you to filter your search base on city, price, location and hotels rating. Hope this helps :)
Consider cheap to find that rate which inclusive breakfast along Orchard Road.ReplyDelete
barb: our currency low .. that is why...ReplyDelete
pam: hey, thanks friend! cos 3 nights gonna cost 1K over for sleeping only.. :)
cat: i know, i know.. but just wanna have more choices.. cos i m not familiar with sg..

Try Supreme Hotel. Back to back with Grand Central...but also near Orchard Road. Last time was around SIN$100, dunno now. Small hotel, nothing fancy but clean...ReplyDelete
stp: yeah, as long as clean and nice.. no need 5 star.. cos we only go back to zzzzzzzzzzzzzReplyDelete
P.S. Don't go YMCA. So small, room the size of my toilet!ReplyDelete
STP, just checked.. supreme is 180sg least!! wow.. what an increase!ReplyDelete
serious? I mean ymca so small? i heard it was very nice.. .
Or you can try this one...ReplyDelete
My friend's daughter, Jacquiline Chan, is running the place. Maybe she can give you something special...
But I don't think it's near Orchard... Anyway, there's MRT - heaps better than our KL's LRT. Ewek!
Singapore is soooo expensive!! Why do Malaysians love to go there I wonder? I prefer cheaper and more charming countries like Thailand for instance : )ReplyDelete
If go Singapore, better go Australia! Haha!ReplyDelete
Anyway good luck in finding the right hotel in Singapore! : )ReplyDelete
gosh STP.. thanks so much.. checking it out now..ReplyDelete
wow..not bad.. 79sg for a double room.. hongkong street, must check where it is.. looks good... free internet.. free breakfast.. yeah, not near the shopping malls.. well, as u always say, beggars cant be choosers.. haha... ok, i KIV this first.. thank u lots STP!! great help!
MM.. I did not do much revision on hotel when I went to singapore last year.. but 1 thing I regretted was.. staying in a very cheap hotel is so frustrated..ReplyDelete
But no worries.. may be not all are the same right.. it's just not a lucky day for us that time.. but thank God only stay a night on that hotel.
all the best.. ^_^
I usually stay in JB and travel to Sg everyday.ReplyDelete
Claire, SG hotel u don't have to worry la,,,all should be very clean! Try to find cheaper one, cos I'm sure u guys will be going around n will on be bec to hotel for freshen up n sleep only rite? U can always hop in airasiago.com they usually have lots of choices of hotel to choose from. Now thinking of its currency rate, my heart also feel heartache when coming to shopping! Cos I'll be going there in April.ReplyDelete
cath: but i saw your posts.. all very nice..ReplyDelete
wenn: i did that too last time..
angeline: yeah..very high currency.. but i do go for a purpose, not to shop.. hahah..
aiya...stay at my place la..so choosy! want air-cond and five star hotel. hahaReplyDelete
Tak tahu. Tak pernah go Singapore. :pReplyDelete
i'm not too sure if that a good price, ihavent been to sg like almost 20 years. try checking with some of your sg blogger friends..they should know best!ReplyDelete
Singapore is definitely a nice country to visit. To me anyway :).ReplyDelete
Claire... my godsister say try Supreme Hotel if you're on budget...but looks like Cikgu oredi told u that! LOL!ReplyDelete
Try your local travel agent - they may have special hotel rates. Like KL, Bintang Warisan RM150 through agent - cheaper than walk-in and online rates. I don't know about the Singapore hotels...butI know people in Kuching book through this one called Wah Tung - hotels like Grand Central...in RM, much cheaper and dealing with them direct.ReplyDelete
Rucksack Inn is on Facebook, You can like their page and then discuss with them there... Talk to Jacqueline, see if she can give you some good offer. She and a friend own the place... (If you remember, years ago...there was this duo - Malaysian gold medalists for synchronised swimming - she was one of them, from Kuching. Known her since she was a kid.)ReplyDelete
I wish I knew what your money means, but I only compute in dollars and sense. I wish you luck with the hotel!!!ReplyDelete
Hope you enjoy your stay -where ever it is :-)ReplyDelete
When you come HERE you can stay with my friends at AQUA hotels. See my sidebar for the link...
Aloha from Waikiki
good luck with SG lor, we also wanna go leh, but donno when. hahaha! nasib my SIL & cousins are in SG :)ReplyDelete
My friend recommend us to stay in homestay which she claims to be more comfortable and cheap. Just try to search for "short stay in Singapore".ReplyDelete
I think expensive. IN Singapore, when choosing hotel..choose one near the MRT or bus station. U can get anywhere easily. cab is expensive. also orchard road is very long. i stayed at one...not at orchard la...was rm100+ a night onlyReplyDelete
so ah... next time must find friend who has a house in singapore. can tumpang tumpang a bit. wakakakaka.ReplyDelete
i think expensive lor. :P
y not try out the lodging houses further away, only need to take MRT to orchard mar. very convenient also. last time i asked one nearby novena, less than 100RM per nite. cuz it's like a backpacker's inn. but quite comfortable one.
stayed in central orchard before, so so only.. not worth the price you pay.. suggest look for some budget hotels which near to MRT..ReplyDelete
U dont hv to stay in Orchard area where hotels are generally more expensive. Stay at other outskirt areas, as long as there's MRT station nearby, you're set. The MRT is so convenient!ReplyDelete
If i have the choice between Thailand n singapore. i will choose Thailand because the currency is low and the hotel is even cheaper than sg.ReplyDelete
People at Thailand are more polite and friendly. I think i can buy cheap items in this country hehehe.
I never stay at the Grand central before...
I stayed there twice, ok la..ReplyDelete
the price memang like tat, enjoy the trip k :)
Try this. It's close to Orchard. Direct buses to central.ReplyDelete
Comes without breakfast but you can always eat out. Plenty of nice and trendy restaurants nearby. Newton circus is near to the hotel.Hotel serves old authentic roast. Have fun!
wow.. you are all so helpful, yes, going to use the suggestions u all mentioned here..ReplyDelete
STP, the rooms are fully booked in Rucksack, i emailed to them already.. so laku! I am going to try the other hotels..
thanks a lot, friends!!
hey, thank you anonymous.. appreciate that.. now looking into their website!ReplyDelete
