"Petrol Hike" Pinch Me In Yam Yam, Ipoh Garden South

I normally take my family out during weekends especially Sundays. Sundays are Sabbath day, a time to rest our hands and the pans in the kitchen! :) But each Sunday we will be "cracking" our heads where to go for our dinner. Sometimes I end up browsing through food blogs for places to eat. No joke but it is true... Ipoh is quite limited now when it comes to good Chinese food.. or perhaps there are many other shops which I have not tried as yet.

Last Sunday my niece suggested going to Yam Yam in Ipoh Garden South.  I think I have been there a couple of times but for different food... this time round we have to order food suitable for my mom who is still recuperating from her "missing toe" operation...
We ordered beancurd with "Sing Kwa" (loofah)
Egg plant with fish paste....
These two dishes are suitable for my mom....
Claypot chicken cooked with shredded ginger and wine..
Half "kampong" chicken RM24
and this is most "appetizing" and "unhealthy"
Intestines cooked with dried shrimps and lots of chillies...
After eating this, I must go for many "walking" rounds!!
The food was not too bad...but I was not happy with the price...
The bill came to RM75 which I think is overpriced for just 4 dishes....
Now I can feel the "pinch"....
Due to petrol prices up, we have to be careful in our spending now...
Eat less outside food... hmmmm.. can we?

  3. Nothing comes cheap these days x'pecially with the petrol hike. Food looks like normal home-cooked, nothing special. But once in awhile eating outside with family is quite enjoyable.

  7. The claypot chicken looks the best to me. How is your mom, did she lose her entire toe? Can she walk alright? How long will she have to diet?

  8. ginny: my mom is getting better now, can walk but not for long distances.. she still has to refrain from certain food...

  22. I like to eat the eggplant dish but don't dare to eat the sang cheong dish. 75 for 4 dishes - is it plus rice and drinks? if it is, then it is about the prices here.

  24. Your food photos are always nice and sharp. Not many bloggers can do this well besides Suituapui. I love what you ordered to eat. I am not fussy and love to eat anything.
