Flower Crab Noodles

Guess what's hidden underneath the crab?

Last weekend I bought a packet of Koka noodles from Jaya Jusco, it was my first time buying this brand after hearing or should I say, reading so much about it in the blogs. Out of curiosity, I cooked it for tonight's dinner. My girl was most happy for she simply loves packet noodles unlike yours truly here.

To enhance the taste of the soup, I bought one "Flower Crab" as a condiment... to my shock, one crab alone cost RM6.60! I should put it back after weighing it... LOL... but haiyah, what the heck, once awhile, it wouldn't hurt to pay a bit more to enjoy to the fullest, right?

Here it is.... my bowl of Koka noodles with Flower Crab.....
My extra plate of greens to go with the bowl of noodles!
Normally I will cook the noodles separately from the soup...
With boiled water, I soak the noodles and let it soften...
Then I rinsed it with some cold running water....
And finally, put the noodles into the boiling soup....
Well, I guess this is the most expensive bowl of noodles I ever cooked at home....
No more Flower Crab next time though the soup was amazingly sweet!

  1. Ya, i did my noodles like the way you do it, to get rid of the wax or what. Never buy flower crab cos my son is allergy to it but with the black ones, he is ok. Funny. Wow, expensive the crab. I would rather buy char sio, meat & fish balls and fried an egg.

    1. What flavour your noodles? Use prawns, one or two enough, will also make the soup really sweet and it is much cheaper too.

    2. My girl doesn't like prawns... I bought the chicken mushroom flavour.. nothing spicy... next time just put egg and fish balls and vege...

  6. Call me jakun, I was shopping at Jusco and weighed 2 pieces of (not very big) salmon, the cost close to RM30!! I wanted to put back after weighing (and the fella already put inside the plastic bag), but malu and scared kena curse, so die die put back in my basket and paid for it..

The soup must be very sweet and tasty, yumm yumm.. What else you put together to boil with the crab? Chicken? Ribs? If you ask me to guess what's inside the bowl, I would guess vegetables, assorted balls and pork/fish slice.. Ngam ahh?

    1. You are no Jakun.. Salmon is expensive one... but there are two types.. one is around RM49 per kilo and one is RM55 or so... not so sure of the price exactly.. I always buy the cheaper type.. in fact I bought one last week, around 6 inches long, it cost only RM7 something only... maybe you chose the expensive type. :) Never mind, die die also eat and enjoy first.. hahahaa...
No, nothing inside the bowl except for the crabs and vegetables!

  10. Your last photo of the crab, vege and noodles really look like those sold in hotels for more than Rm30. Must taste great!
Rm6.6 for a flower crab I think is okla not super expensive. Once a while enjoy more and eat like in hotel at home.

  11. I love all crabs whether soft shell crabs or black crabs. They are fragrant to make any soup and sauce sweeter! Lately my hands started to develop red itchy marks after eating crabs. I think old age is developing allergies for me! Sobs!

Crabs are getting more expensive these days. Maybe we should start catching them ourselves from the swampy land.
